Pat Simmons (Davidson, SK) qualified for the 2009 Westcoast Curling Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 8-1 against Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB). of the 2009 Westcoast Curling Classic in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada;
 
Simmons finished 4-0 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Simmons defeated British Columbia's Ken Watson 8-3, then won 9-6 against Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) and 6-1 against Fengchun Wang (Harbin, CHN). Simmons won 5-4 against Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Simmons earned 15.000 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Westcoast Curling Classic. For week of the event schedule, Simmons did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Simmons ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
