Tom Brewster (Aberdeen, SCO) finished 1-4 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Brewster lost
7-2 to Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB), droppimg another game, 7-4 to Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) where Brewster responded with a 7-6 win over Greg McAulay (Richmond, BC). Brewster went on to lose 7-6 against Bob Ursel (Kelowna, BC). Brewster lost 9-5 to Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Brewster earned 3.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week of the event schedule, Brewster did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Brewster ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
