Jones is often lost on ice she's familiar with.

Imagine her headaches with changing ice conditions? JJ is simply not that great at in-game adjustments!

Englot also has a young & strong front end. JJ doesn't - she was quick to replace Cathy O when she felt her skills were diminishing, but loyalty to Jill will cost her. Englot will win Manitoba.

Maybe JJ should let Kaitlyn throw last rock or have Jill hold the broom while Kaitlyn sweeps!

Sound like a broken record but the key question for Jones is probably Jennifer herself.

Too often Dawn & Jill turn in plus 85% performances, only to see Jen undo their great work with risky strategy on one or both of Kaitlyn's stones. Then it gets wild & woolly.

If Jones is to win either or both her matches today the key is high percentages from both Kaitlyn & JJ - I'd say Kaitlyn has to be above 82 in both games and Jones has to be plus 84.

Anything below 79 and the old does will find ways to torment and eventually topple the JJs!

We both know JJ has too much pride to allow that to happen. Even if Jones goes down in flames today she still has sponsorship commitments for 2018, including her now auto-berth in the Olympic trials.

Kaitlyn & Dawn are now the best all-round curlers on the team. Dawn is now 35+ and Jill is approaching 42. Both still amazing brushers but too often caught up in calling wars between Lawes & Jones.

Kaitlyn can make almost all the shots - but she's all too often given hi degree of difficulty shots which reduce her shooting percentages and torque up pressure on Jones pair.

Nothing gonna change much team-wise until the Trials finish up. At that point, assuming Jones loses I suspect Lawes will be the hottest free agent out there and could name her ticket with a few top squads. Lori Olson Johns and Beth Iskiw are both fighting father time so Kaitlyn could pair up with Val in Alberta - or pilot a group of advanced fawns like Birchard in MB.
Finally, if Englot wins today - I think Lawes would be the natural choide for 5th player. Can play all positions, can brush like the dickens and gets along well with teammates & fans alike.

the question is how much longer does jen plan on curling. if she plans on retiring any time soon then there's no point in even thinking about replacing jill.

and the facty of the matter is they are still one of the best teams in the world so maybe people should stop talking about her making line up changes. they might not be a s good as they once were but they are still one of the most consistent teams out there

The 1st end was a microcosm of Jennifer's recent struggles. Poor rock placement and indifference to ice conditions cost them a steal of two by Robertson.

Team JJ must have been a collective 40% in 1st end. JJ was approx. 35%, 40% if you have a relative scoring her!

History says JJ loves diggin' herself a hole - and rallying down the stretch!

Chelsey Carey on commentary. I got to say, think she is doing a really good job. Show knows when to talk and when not to, she is good a explaining a situation without rambling.

Jeff as well for that matter. They don't talk over the curlers, we get to hear what they are thinking

This is just all kinds of bad from Jones. I count like maybe 3 Shots they have made properly through the first 3 ends

Jen having to make circus shots just to give herself a chance to score. Right now it honestly feels like Jen is feeling against 7 other players by herself.

Doesn't matter if Jilly & Kaitlyn are barfing up putrid games - if Jones goes heroine she can win games against this level of competition all be her lonesome.

Like the old-fashioned days when she brought freaky poor teams to town (ie. Fallis at 3rd)

Here comes the start of the inevitable collapse of Robertson in the 5th. Jones team (mostly Kaitlyn) is playing awful, but they will still win.

Leslie and Raunora are experienced curlers and are fit. A strong front end who has curled as a duo for a long time. Not young though - and this is not a disadvantage.

Jones & Lawes taking turns being Mrs. Doubtfire.

Jones can't close the hole vs. Robertson in 5.

Robertson has to make a few key shots to secure a spot in the final. If she collapses Jones might be able to slither thru.

This might be the worst game I have ever seen Kaitlyn play. I don't think she has made one full shot all game

Is it possible they don't care to win? I guess the perks alone are incentive, but they do not need any glory, fame, or accolades. Interesting motivational mind set for TeamJ.

No, they definitely care. The e looking frustrated and you can hear the tension in their voices. The want this I even saw Jen bump her broom on the ice in frustration

Simply a matter of team Jones just struggling in every way. If not for Jen making some brilliant shots they would be down even more right now.

Dacey was coaching Team Thompson. Young team. really cut up by their loss. Had a shot for the win in 10.

Did they? That's to bad. But at the same time it's good to see a young team from Nova Scotia do well. For a long time it's bee about veterans in that province

As much as I do admire and respect Jens attitude I agree with Chelsey. Your team is struggling badly play simpler shots. Let Robertson try the hard ones.

IF they get out of this I think they will be having a serious talk
