I think you're both right.

Lawes is playing third at Worlds, and this was the agreement going in. Birchard will be joining the team there though, as their alternate...at least, she is expected to be doing so.

From the article:

Shannon Birchard, 23, was recruited to play with Lawes, who is busy getting ready to compete at the Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, in mixed doubles for Canada with John Morris. Lawes will rejoin Jones in North Bay while Birchard is expected to act as the team’s alternate player.

what a momentum changer that 6th end was. if einarson makes the run back jones is forced to one. she missed it though and that's when it all turned around. jones team was dominant through the back 5.

so happy for shannon. would have sucked to see her lose another national final

would expect that, as that article says jones will take her as 5th to worlds.

also never been so happy to be wrong about predictions in provincials. really happy to see john epping finally get to the brier

Joyful for Jones & Co. but feeling bad today for Team Einarson - especially Jill's niece Kristen McCuish. That little spark plug played her heart out and now ranks amongst the top front-enders in the world.
That timid little rabbit 3rd, Selena really grew on me. She was in a word - TERRIFIC.
Liz Fyfe is the weakest link on a very good team but she stood up to the pressure in the final - Einarson curling only 72% was a bit of a surprise. She's usually better than that.
Having no Rachel Homan to pelt them with shots was a real plus for both Einarson & Jones.

In North Bay Jones will probably be the favorites - along with the Athletics from Sweden and the crafty
Scottish princess.

I think all world teams have huge hopes in the absence of the Ottawa shot-pelters!

Your "shot pelters" have been very good in the past , but imho rather underwhelming in the past year. She eked out the last Scotties by a matter of a few inches, against a team that beat her twice that week already. We will pull for her and hope they get their game back to where it needs to be to beat the best.

Wow 😮 we are so overwhelmed with all the messages and cheers and support we received all week long at the Scotties! Completely blown away with how the fans responded to us and completely embraced the idea of Team Wild Card - we had one of the most amazing and fun weeks of our lives. The energy in the building every time we stepped onto the ice and with every made shot is something most curlers only dream of and we were lucky enough to experience all week long! Truly something we’ll never forget ✨

A huge thank you to the town of Penticton, the volunteers, host committee, fans, TSN crew, ice crew, our families who spent a ton of money last minute to come cheer us on and those who had to stay home and hold down the fort for us on our unexpected 11 day journey! I know we say it all the time but we really wouldn’t be able to do what we do without their support along with our sponsors so THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts!! ❤️

Obviously not the final outcome we hoped for but nonethless had an absolute blast being your first ever TEAM WILD CARD (Wildcats, Wild Chicks, Wild Style, Wild Ones, etc etc etc)! Congratulations to Official Team Jennifer Jones and Manitoba as well, they will be fantastic reps for Canada at the Worlds - we’ll be cheering you on! 🇨🇦

A wonderfully classy statement by a wonderfully classy team! Very well thought out - may have lost the game but they really won the hearts that count - the hearts of fans across the country!

A great final with two great teams! One of the Scotties classics in my mind. Team Einarson has a bright future in front of them.

Why did they need to hold it down? Was it an inflatable fort?!?!

Sorry...Pet peeve
