US Nats winners get entry into Champions Cup Grand Slam

Just noticed that the new Champions Cup Grand Slam event gives an invitation to the winners of the US Nationals (both men and women). This is great news.

I've been vocal in this forum about how USA Curling has been de-valuing the US Nationals, one of the greatest yearly curling events outside of Canada. The Champions Cup news is a welcome step in the other direction. It will heighten the value and prestige of the US Nationals.

On another note, this event sounds like a really cool format, really excited to see what happens this season with the GSOC.

I would assume that the people at Pintys can dictate if the US National Champion would be the Points Leader or the event winner. Afterall this is their event, not the USCA controlled, so USCA should have no say.

Honestly, I think that having the points leader go to Worlds and the event champion go to Pintys is probably a good compromise, so that if the event winner was not the points champion, it would still be a pretty good consolation prize.
