Anybody know why teams that nobody in the tv viewing area can understand are mic'ed? Always find it irritating.

They do speak English very well. But probably easier to speak their own language when all four are together.

its a gray area of cheating , taking an extra advantage ..

talked to him once , kindof a knob ... wont miss him or the silly beard .. never watch him

however i really like Ulsrud team - great sports - most noticeably in Vanc Olympic final a drunken boor expleteive deleted yelled in his backswing in the 10th - Thomas just ignored the jerk.

Solid, convincing win by Jamie.
I would have thrown the draw for 1 in 6, though, to make it 5-1, rather than try to hit the buried shot rock for 3.

Sinclair got lucky and hit the Jones team on a down day. Interesting that the top female skip in the US is actually Canadian!

Anyway the disgrace here is the amount of money that non-Canadian teams will get as a result of playing, actually being invited to play in the players championship! Heavily funded teams, funded by their own countries, many receiving wages on top of all expenses while Canadian teams scrimp to get by and work full time jobs to support their families. We should be inviting our own teams. Let the rest of the world develop high level curling in their own country.

Sinclair was actually born in Alaska, not Canada. I am aware of here parents jobs, nationalities, etc and that she grew up in Canada and played juniors for Canada, but wanted to point out that she is a birth right American.

But in terms of you being mad that non-Canadians are playing in the event, remember that in the modern world of points needed to qualify for the Oympics, having the best non-Canadian teams play benefits the Candian points earned. So both sides are benefiting from the mixed country nature of these events.

You have got to be kidding. Jones is the luckiest team in the world. Sinclair had Jones in trouble every end. And the luck wasn’t with Jones that day. Einerson should have beat Jones, but Jones got lucky.
Congrats to Team Sinclair on a well earned victory.

The beauty of JJ's great season (still one event left for her to pooper skooper more cash) is that she's doing it with far less accuracy and nuance than she's had during most of her career.

How can this happen?

Brains? JJ is easily the smartest player in the game - oft times her misses don't really matter to the game at hand.

She's also got 3 loyal and long-established all-star players at her disposal - the rising star K Lawes is no longer intimidated by JJ's mythology - she's been making more shots than ever before - a true all-star and now easily one of the top 2 3rds in the world - I'm putting Emma Miskew down the list and putting Kaitlyn and Sara McManus at par. That little U..S. 3rd, Alex Carlson has been moving up the rankings - she's probably cracked Top 10 at the worlds - now I'd say she's moved up to Top 6.

Jamie Sinclair really had a great coming out party in Toronto. She's a very cool operator - never seems to panic - her strategy is solid (absorbing Al Hackner's curling DNA/knowledge is never a bad thing) and Alexandra Carlson is a real comer.

I think they've insinuated themselves into the world scene - to the point they'll be major contenders at grand slams, worlds, European events, next Olympics, etc.

What Jones did this year with diminished accuracy and nuance is still the greatest story ever told (this year) and the long winning streaks - even though she continued to be hampered by scattered accuracy.

Kinda feel sorry (in a way) for Joss Peterman, coming in after the Carey team disbanded, taking the first good job that came available. But coming aboard Team Jones when JJ herself is beginning to deteriorate and long-time Jones lieutenant Jill is departing isn't a great time.

Only good thing that happens if Jones continues to deteriorate is Peterman and Lawes forming a strong bond and perhaps forming their own squad down the road - when Jones hands in retirement papers.

But USA curling's rise in both mens and womens has to be heart-warming for USA curling. Sinclair has the great demeanour of Laura Crocker but unlike Crocker Sinclair is the real deal in the shot-making dept.

Outcurled JJ by 25 pts.
Carlson and Persinger outcurled Kaitlyn and Officer by 15+ pts. each.

Just outstanding for the American girls - and their resurging program. Nina Roth might be a very good world class USA#2 but she can't hold a candle to Jamie Sinclair.

Super nice job by Team Sinclair! They have had a great season. I know they feel disappointed about missing the Olympics and the World's bronze, but they should feel good about even being in that position. Not many US women can claim the successes they've had!

So by your logic, since most of the NHL is based in the United States, they should exclude Canadian and European hockey players as there is no room for any foreigners here kind of mentality.

All curlers benefit from the increased competition of good curling. In your world of "Canada only", there would be no Olympic curling. The game would be the off the radar activity it used to be with no exposure outside of a few small venues in Canada. Get in your way back machine and head back to corn brooms and grandma's knit sweaters, smoking on the ice and takeout after takeout.

Most of us will choose to enjoy the amazing level of skill and advancement of the game due to regularly featured competition with international play raising the game world wide. And yes, I am a Canadian before you pull that as a response.
