John Morris News
http://ici.radio-canada.ca/nouvelle...nt-cafe-mariage
yes, this story is in French? It was posted on facebook by The Curling News. When someone asked why it was not translated, The Curling News' answer was:
Okay folks, we are not responsible for translating stories for you. Search out an English version or translate it yourself. And if you're upset that this is in French, complain to John, not us... he's speaking French in the video... or did you not bother to watch it?
Really, that is how they deal with their readers. Must be having a bad day.
People who have tried to translate say this it basically what it says:
A summary, translated: John Morris is taking a break from team curling. He is expecting his first child at the end of March and will marry this summer at his cottage in Québec. He will also be opening a café in Canmore to satify his passions for cooking and nutrition. He will continue to curl mixed doubles with Kaitlyn Lawes.

here is another translation.
After having won the first gold medal of the history of the Olympic Games in curling mixed doubles, the curler John Morris decided to focus on the things that to keep him more to heart, as found a family and to open a small business.
A text of Patrick Henri
John Morris takes a break of curling competitive in team. This sport requires a lot of time to those who want to maintain the summit and it prefers to use its time for personal projects.
Its first major project: become dad. The athlete of 39 years and its joint await the arrival of a first child at the end of the month of March.
Second Great Project: marry the woman who shares her life. The marriage will be celebrated this summer at the cottage of Morris, in the province of Quebec.
Third Great Project: open a café bistro at Canmore. Morris said that he is passionate about cooking and nutrition and that it dream for years to share this passion.
Morris wants to achieve these projects while pursuing his studies in business management and by continuing to exercise his profession of firefighter.
Ah yes! He would like when even continue to play in curling. Fortunately, now there is the double Curling Mixed.
This new discipline request less investment, it account therefore continue to practice it.

maybe agree - but they did not have to be so arrogant in their comment.

Busy 2019 for Johnny Mo . . . . but I still can't believe he'll turn down all opportunities in 4 x 4 mens curling. . . . . especially pre-booked Grand Slams and international events.
Don't really like the idea of McEwen brining in Morris - but the idea is intriguing as BJ was so laid back - Morris is almost the opposite - could really shake Mikey out of his usual lethargy.
Same with Reid-o-Rama. Without Moskowy Reid appears lost. Don't think Stoughton would commit to a full cycle at 3rd (not at 54) but who knows. Morris could be a good rental player - traveling to meet the team wherever they play - Morris in for Moskowy - that's a toss-up, except for John being far more assertive!

Mikey & Reid together is so interesting on so many levels.
Mike the power-player who's been found wanting in the strategy department but can make a ton of shots - at various weights
Reid, the nuance-player - great strategy - he's a guy most like Gushue - just can't get the rocks to do what Goo can do.
Would be a great back end - so long as Carruthers becomes chief strategist - whether he throws 3rd or skip stones.
Suggested front end = BJ Neufeld at 2nd, Colin Hodgson lead.
Or BJ forms his own power-team and tries to take on the Reid/Mikey monster.

Curling News could have worded this a bit more tactfully or translated it themselves. I can read French but many can't. Perhaps they could have used google translate and pasted it or in the initial post said "Hey this is in French, there is no English version, please use an online translation tool such as Google translate to read if you don't read French".
Looks like Morris is being very smart. Moving on! He has his two Olympic gold medals. He's done everything in curling that can be done. He is going to be a dad and wants to start a new career (open a restaurant). While you might see him filling in here and there - he and Kaitlyn aren't even listed for the Canadian Mixed Doubles championships. I don't think we shall see much of him in the future. Too bad, he was one of the more entertaining curlers on the circuit.

Doesn't Kaitlin have a conflict or do you think she should miss the women's worlds? Shannon Birchard would probably be happy with that.

With the 'cottage in Quebec', it sounds to me like his goal is to eventually represent every province and territory at the Brier...

The womens' worlds and the Canadian mixed are on at the same time. Hard for her to play in both.

Gossippy good news. Stoughton just announced in front of the feed for the mixed doubles curling that John and Maggie had their baby today. Jack. Congrats is in order!
