Joss knew what she was getting into - and it isn't necessarily a bad thing. Possibly its a great thing!
She was parked with the erratic and somewhat nefarious Chelsea Carey at skip - nearly 50 yr old Cathy O at 3rd and nearing 50 Laine Peters at lead.
Didn't hear about where Carey is heading - she's a well known member of 'Curlers without Boarders' but if Carey has something in mind she should have asked Peterman to be her new 3rd - maybe get a couple smurfs like Laura Crocker & Brittany Tran on front end - or even a team like:
Carey - Skip
Peterman - 3rd
Dana Ferguson - 2nd
Rachel Brown - lead
Now that's a team I could get behind - although CC Carey can drive people crazy.
Loading up her van - finding work in Winnipeg (won't be a problem btw) and being JJ's new lieutenant has a myriad of benefits.
If Jones finds the going tough next year and decides to retire - there's Peterman, Lawes, McEwen and possibly Shannon Birchard in the wings. Lawes or Birchard skipping - that's a formidable outfit.

Sorry I don't do well reading sarcasm or serious in posts. Which is this? Too many links to read with fine print. Agree or disagree? Still looks and sounds like a 1 year deal.

Merits & demerits of a 1 year deal.
If Jones turns into a 75% curler and doesn't garner the wins, a STOH repeat or sufficient cash Joss has the option that Dawn & Kaitlyn may not have. She can leave.
Jones is pretty stubborn so she may deny and avoid retirement - trudge on despite breakdowns in her game.
On the flip side - if Peterman provides 85%+ support at 2nd, Jones repeats as Brier & World champion WHY WOULD JONES EVER CUT TIES WITH HER?
So Joss is basically in a no-lose situation.

I'm not sure if I said this already but it's worth saying again. These players that are " stepping back" but NOT retiring are very concerning. Using Peterman as the example. Unless she signed a 4 year deal, what's to prevent Jill to "come back" after 2 years as they don't count towards Olympic qualifying and say I'm back and Peterman is out in the cold after uprooting and "moving" to Manitoba, all the while passing on other opportunities. I hope she has it in writing.
Given that all parties are adults, it's highly probable that they've all agreed on how the next 4 years will play out. And whether that leaves room for the possibility of Jill returning - and if so, in what capacity - is something we won't know, but it's more than safe to say that all those directly involved are very clear on the different scenarios possible, and are ok with it.

I agree. These days, I am sure contracts are written up, advice given. I think that whatever Joceylyn is there for, or how long, in what capacity, she would definitely know.
