Scotland Women's Championships

I've been watching this the last few days and I still wonder how the women's curling in Scotland has come to this.

There are only 4 women's teams in all of Scotland, vying for the national championship. 3 look like juniors. And so far the juniors are winning.

What has happened to Scottish curling that they only have ONE women's team left? Is it 10 years of paying and supporting one team to the behest of any other? Did all the other competitive teams just say screw it? Did the amalgamation of the junior teams into the Muirhead team discourage all the other teams from even trying? Muirhead may still win but what does it say about the country that founded curling that they only have one team left?

I suspect Princess Eve became so very dominant at representing Scotland and squashing all comers that nobody bothered to mount competitive challenges.

Eve always "threw" a game - just to provide hope - but when push came to shove she was the auto-berth at Worlds for Scotland.

The only real competitor that mounted a minor challenge for Muirhead was Lauren Gray - and then Eve killed that by hiring Gray as her erstwhile lead. With 2 losses so far to Young Sophie Jackson, I suspect Eve is just painting her fingernails up to her near-certain coronation in the Scottish final.

Scottish men appear to be a different kettle of fish.

It does not appear to be a women's playoff. Does this mean Sophie wins?

For the future of Scottish curling I'd love to see Sophie prevail - but I'm sure Princess will rise up off the canvas and put a stop top the youngsters in the championship final - despite being squashed by them in round-robin games!
