Men's Event 7th & 8th place

I see someone has done the same as me and looked at past events to see what happens when 7th & 8th are level on wins.

I also found that in the Men's event they played a tie-break to decide the 7th qualifier for the Worlds back in 2010, but has anyone been able to confirm that this rule is still in effect?

And an even more intriguing question...

...if England were to win B and get promoted to A for the 2015 Europeans, how does that affect the GB qualifying for Olympics?

Would GB have to choose which of England or Scotland were scoring points for qualification at some point before the Europeans next year? Or would GB be allowed to wait and see who qualifies...and what if BOTH got to the 2016 Worlds!

It's showing on ESPN3, so I guess they've asked it be geo-blocked then.

If there is a tie for the 7th place spot, there will be a tie-breaker game. If 3 teams are tied for 6th, I believe the best teams gets 6th on record/DSC, the 2 other teams play tiebreaker game for 7th.

Much appreciated. I couldn't find anything on either the ECC or the WCF websites about it.

Ok. Based on my understanding of one tiebreak max and that the first tiebreaker is round robin results between tied teams, I think Russia's only hope is for Switzerland to lose to Denmark and Norway to win against the Czechs because they lost to all the relevant teams in the round robin. Not looking good for them. Obviously, if Norway and Switzerland win they're in. If either lose there will be some kind of tiebreak.

There was such a situation two years ago when Germany played a tie-breaker game against Czech Republic for the World challenge spot. But eventually the host of the next Worlds (Latvia) won 'B' division and no World challenge took place, because Latvia qualified as a host nation.

I have not heard this rule has been changed ever after...

The last women's draw is interesting. It has what amounts to a couple of playoff games with Scotland playing Finland and Denmark playing Sweden. Winners go to the playoffs and losers are out.

you know, looking at the stats this seems like one really crappy championship in terms of quality and watching some matches and seeing some things on the shot by shot tracker it doesnt help. there were some nice shots but overall it just seems like a lot of the teams just struggled with making even the most basic of shots

Happy for team Edwards. You do not want to be the Scottish team that doesn't qualify for the Worlds.

i dont think he'd miss worlds even if he lost to germany. i trust scotland to beat whoever wins B a lot more than i trust germany thats for sure

speaking of B countries in contention are finland, hungary, england and the netherlands. finland will probably come through and are probably the most dangerous to germany followed by the netherlands then hungary and then england

If Norway hadn't gotten back to the "A" Series they would have to drafted Dordi out of retirement!
