The Quebec mens Provincials seem pretty long, with a similar format as the Brier. It appears as though they eliminated one team from a tiebreaker due to shootout scores. There were three teams tied for one spot after the first round robin series, so they eliminated one and had only one TB game. Unless I misread this, that would be a major flaw in the draw. You would never eliminate a team based on shoot out scores. You might give them an extra game in a TB, but you would never eliminate a team. If you decide to run a round robin, there is a risk of ties and hence TB games, so you must have time in the draw to accommodate this possibility.

That sounds unfair, perhaps they should think about going to a triple knock out format like Ontario.

There are ties in Northern Ontario and New Brunswick. It will be interesting to see if they have tiebreakers or eliminate teams based on the shootout scores. I agree with you, CB, if you don't have time for TBs, then go with the triple knockout draw.

NO and NB both used TBs. Come to think of it, is this the first time in Canadian history that a provincial playdown leading to a Brier or Scotties ever eliminated a team based on shootout scores? I do not recall that ever happening before. Does anybody know of another example of this ever happening before?
