For the first year of relegation, they took results from the last 3 combined Briers (2012, 2013, 2014). PEI was 9-24, NS was 5-28 along that stretch. NO was 15-18, well ahead.

I guess you haven't been paying attention but PEI and Nova Scotia are more than a tad miffed, but PEI will get out of relegation anyways.

i wish people would pay attention.

it was already explained that for the first year the last 3 results of teams at the brier will be used to determine who battles in relegation. from here on out the last place team will be relegated.

Since the pre qualifiers are not anywhere just watching the score. Had a bit more hope for Team PEI. Yukon is teaching them a lesson in the first half.

They are getting taken to the woodshed. I think they may have had this one in the bank before they left.

OH OH Casey called it after 8 ends. Scored only one.

I would say team Yukon should be mighty proud of their accomplishment tonight.

I am sure I am not alone in disliking this relegation business, and these teams come from so far at great cost for what may be a 2 day stay. Never mind any family that might want to support them up close.

Congrats to team Yukon and may the relegation games be as exciting as the main show.

If Yukon wins this morning, do NS and PEI still play this afternoon?

Top 2 teams advance to play to see who advances to the main draw. That game will take place during the 1st RR game.

Since no one will give you a straight answer, I will. It is not a knockout event, it is a round-robin with a championship game afterward. If Yukon beat NS, they will be 2-0 and will play in the qualifier final tomorrow as part of the First Draw of the Brier Round-Robin. The winner of this afternoons PEI-NS game will meet the Yukon in that qualifier championship game.
The same thing was done two weeks ago in Moose Jaw at the Scotties. On Thursday and Friday, Yukon, NWT and N. Ont. played with
N. Ont. going 2-0, NWT 1-1 and Yukon 0-2. During the first draw of the Scotties, with three main round-robin games taking place around them, NWT and N. Ont met in the qualifier final, which N. Ont won. I hope that clears things up.

Thanks. For some reason, I thought it was a straight RR, so if someone finished 2-0 that was the end of it. Thanks for clarifying that there is a 'champ' game.

I watched the Scotties, but it took me a little while to figure out the format that they had used since the relegation games weren't shown on TV and the announcers only mentioned it in passing (at least for the games I watched). If you're not following the forums and the broadcasts intently it's easy to miss the nuances.

It's a round robin. The top 2 teams play on the first draw of the main event with the winner joining the main event and the loser is out. It seems a little silly, but remember they designed it with the idea that there would be 4 relegation teams. Nunavet was unable to send a team.

I believe this could get ugly, at present NS is winning 7-5 over Yukon. Now if I'm right here PEI will have to win hammer and the game against NS or there gone. In other words PEI can be eliminated at the draw to the button.

So, the draw to the button prior to the game, may determine the "finalists".
Yup, that's GREAT for curling!!!!

So PEI has to beat NS in order to enforce that stupid D2B scenario this afternoon to determine who will play in the final relegation game.

Yep and he's gotta have hammer or basically the game means nothing. Miss the hammer and it's time to go to the Patch. Oh no it's probably not even open yet.

For the tiebreak to kick in Casey must win. If he does then it goes to distance from pin in draw to the button tries. I would think it is possible Casey could be without hammer in both his games but still qualify on total distance. However if they [Casey] are third after the draw to the button the game becomes meaningless, I think.

All this crap sucks anyway. All provinces and territories should be represented. The CCA is going to srew curling in Canada. Relegation is just another word for discrimination. The CCA suck.
