2016 US Open of Curling

Hello all.

Registration for the 2016 US Open of Curling is open.

Last year or event saw the best field in the US in nearby two decades with Stougton, Caruthers, Laycock, Epping, Casey, McCormick, Shuster,Clark and a host of other great teams. This year we are adding a women's event. So the men's event will be 18 teams with 6 qualifiers and the women's event will be 12 teams with 4 qualifiers. Our dates will be January 1-4 with Semis and Finals on Monday the 4th.

Additionally we have added Asham as a presenting sponsor. So along with Twin Cities Gateway we have a great payout at $24,000 for the men and $16,000 for the women.

Teams can registeer on the WCT site for both events. We expect great coverage of the event as we were just recently named the Olympic Training Site for US Curling.

Congratulations on attracting a quality sponsor, 'Nilla. That's a big step.

For those of you sitting back and bemoaning how difficult it can be to break into top level curling: Here's an opportunity. Go and measure yourself against the best in the world. See how they play. Listen to how they communicate. Talk to them after the game and pick their brains. Pull an upset or two and put yourself on the map. Maybe go winless, but hang tough in enough games that you know that you belong.

We, as a nation, can deepen our strength through events like these.

This is one I'm going to see in person. I'll bring along my curling shoes just in case Gemmell has a bad hair day and Heater needs a sub.

Great news. Awesome to see this event expanding.

Gabe's is a great venue for spectators. Hopefully there will be some quality streaming coverage of this event...TV would be even better (hopefully live).
