Good end by Canada. A well played 3 ball. I hope this puts some fire in their belly and they pick up the win.

They got a break and took advantage of it.

I'm hoping she finds a way to escape the Homan Torture Rack at the Trials!

How have I done with my forecast so far? (Scotland wins round robin to get to the 1-2 game, while Edin beats Canada to secure a place in the playoffs.)

world curling = russian roulette with 1 empty chamber ..

designed to give every country a chance ... works every time

still entertaining ... would like to watch it with teams howard, martin, stoughton, and gushue in my living room ... would make a great movie

Please explain. Why shouldn't it be designed to give every country a chance?

P.S. It obviously doesn't work every time considering Canada's record in World Curling.

People simply refuse to give other countries credit. It's pathetic.

1. canada has about 5 professional teams --all have won the brier got $50k each player for 2 years -- china , sweden, russia , norway have 1 professional team each - most play in Canada super league ...
2. must win 35 games to get out of canada then win 11 in a row at the worlds 2 weeks later
3. other countries are selected and sent - many 5 - 15 years in a row
4. free guard rule makes it very difficult to maintain a lead .. ending up with teams gambling and needing trick shots to win ... all teams can make the trick shots and teams almost always get hot curl 90% against canada
5. never said it was bad for the sport - just a little hard on our reps ( ask them - " its better to do what it takes to win the worlds if you can - than try to explain why you lost them for the rest of your life " )
5. where did i not give anyone credit -- i predicted sweden , scotland, canada and norway a week ago
6 they tweaked it til it worked - pretty obvious really

You really need some help there ML!!! Either spend some quality time in the local psych ward or you will have to quit making the daily trek to the liquor store me thinks!

1. true. so what?
2. win 11 in a row? what? just finish in the top two, which they usually do, then win two more games. not unreasonable.
3. most of the countries do have a championship. some are selected, some are not (Scotland, which has been Canada's toughest competitor over the years has to win their country's championship to go to worlds). Not sure why this matters.
4. the top teams have little trouble holding on to leads. the free guard zone wasn't instituted to level the playing field. it was brought in so the game wouldn't be a complete bore.
5. worlds is hard on our reps because of the huge expectations placed on them by fans, not by the format or whatever it is you're getting at.
6. if anything they tweaked it to give advantages to the stronger teams by bringing in the page playoffs. It used to be straight semifinals. Usually Canada will make the 1-2 game and get a second chance if they happen to lose that game that they wouldn't have had in the past.

I have seen Jones twice at the World's. Twice she has lost. Twice she has sulked. BTW, so did Kevin Martin. On the other hand Jean-Michel Mnard was gracious in defeat.

well that sucks

Sweden ruined all the fun. We were one game away from having a 5 team playoff for 4th place. Instead sweden gets second..kind of ironic for a team that really shouldnt have been in the playoff picture to begin with but they got very lucky with finland and russia early on

Canada really is leaking oil. after starting out 5-0 they have gone 2-4 in the last 6 games. They could pull off what they did at the brier but will they?..i dont know

Look at the linescore times on CZ?

How can the bronze game be held before the semi-final and the semifinal and the final be held at the same time?

When it comes down to it there is only one team with (1) less loss than Canada. I still like their chances in the playoffs. I wasn't a major Team Jacobs fan before the Worlds, but I have been impressed with how they handled their losses. Took responsibility-none of this "we deserved to win" nonsense.
GO TEAM CANADA!

Jacobs seems to play a lot better as a frontrunner than he does in close games or from behind. Now that can probably be said of many teams, but the difference seems to be glaring with this team. It also sometimes appears that they rely a bit too much on being able to make one or two higher difficulty shots to save an end if they get into trouble - that's fine if you're making everything like they were at the Brier. But when you start missing those or get the rocks into the wrong spot look out.
