Swiss Cup Basel

Gushue easily the heavy favorite, but surprisingly upset and travelling the B-Road. Murdoch fighting through the B-Road as well.

Michel and Casey set to face off to make the A Qualifier. Team Ulsrud's first venture onto the ice of the year, won their first game so so far so good for them.

Brewster on the A-train as well, and with Mike Harris as their new coach.

little correction. ulsrud is actually playing his 2nd event of the year. he played in the baden masters and made the semi final, losing to edin.

surprised to see DeCruz already down in C. they usually do really well in the european events

Oops, yeah, you're right. Seems like that was so long ago, I completely forgot, ha ha.

Definitely. Some surprising games in this event overall so far.

Michel & Hoiberg in through the A qualifier.

Gushue rolling along in the B road, set to play in the B qualifier vs either Snitl or van Dorp. Looks like it will be Stjerne and Kiiskinen in the other B game.

Casey, Murdoch, Smith, Ulsrud all battling it out through the C road. Didn't expect to see Casey or Ulsrud there, although Casey had to play Gushue to stay in B so one of them was going there regardless.

Brewster and Kauste are out already. I would have had them pegged to qualify, Brewster for sure. Surprises just keep on coming.

ulsrud goes down to smith. smith is the new face of scotland..or at least he will be soon. a lot of talent there on that team, lots of potential. i wouldnt be all that surprised if we see smith at one of the major events this season..either euros or worlds. thinks he's ready for a breakthrough

Yup. Young team with a lot of talent and potential for sure, and already gaining a ton of experience so far this year. Last year too even...they made it to the final of that last CCT event where they lost to Edin. Put up a good game though.

I agree, and I think you're right. Murdoch continues to struggle, and Brewster always seems to be just about there (breaking through that is) but never quite.
