I worry about his mental game, he's a soft spoken, kind soul. Just look at how he interacted with team Epping after the win. With two guys that draw a lot of ire from the community its gonna be tough road. Its hard to play with that kind of target on your back and you can tell Camm is just waiting for the opportunity to take over the reins. Mark wouldn't have been demoted in the National if he wasn't. The Kean team is 3v1, if they struggle at the Brier the sparks may fly.

I'm not gonna lie, I feel the same way unfortunately. There's a lot of potential with this team but I have to wonder if it's meant to be with this configuration. After winning provincials they must be in the best mental state since their inception, so it will be fascinating to see just how much they can grow as a team going forward....

With regards to Howard and Mathers being dropped by Epping. It wasn't their skill that cost them spots on his team. If you are at all involved in the tour you know why they parted ways. Heck, Mike Harris' commentary during the Semi-Final really said it all.

Yes, that is how I understood the departures happened. Uh oh - soft spoken kind souls will get eaten by hungry young sharks. Ontario doesn't want to fall into the relegation due to in-fighting and a team that thinks they can all skip.

Sorry but Fanset didn't help Epping out too much in that game. Not sure if it was the pressure or just not on that day.

i think its the latter. Travis is a great third , i think he played better at week than he did that game. Him and John do seem to work well together so id be surprised if they broke apart. besides, there really arent that many great options for strong thirds in ontario at the moment. And to be fair to travis as well that those 9th and 10th ends were not all on him. tim and patrick in front of him didnt exactly start things off well for him and john.

Just wanted to make a quick comment on here. I was the one who told Mat to throw the last rock at the National. I wanted a break and a chance to just make some shots at the big level to get my confidence back. It was not a team decision in anyway. I came off the tough loss against Glenn and said Mat I would like you to throw the brick for a few games.

I don't blame Dave, Scott or Mat if they had doubts about me as a skip. I self admittedly had a terrible tour season and if I was in their shoes I can't safely say I would have been any different. I am really proud of how they stuck with me though and believed in me even when I was missing shots I'm used to making. In the end it paid off cause we're going to the Brier haha.

Also yes I may come across as soft spoken and kind, but I'm just as competitive as any guy on our team. I learned a long time ago that getting upset and fiery as a skip is the last thing you need. So I've worked on being calm since my junior broom banging days.

Finally give the Epping team a break. They've had a great season and they played a great game. Both teams felt the pressure in that game and we were lucky enough to come out on top. Like John said in his interview, we now have a bit of a rivalry going in Ontario. Maybe eventually like the great Wrench/Howard days, but we are a long way from that haha.

Thanks for the post Mark. Just go out and have a good time. You've arrived and I'm happy for all of you. Good Luck at the Brier. Y'all have worked hard for it.
