Why would Carruthers and Shuster be the only outside teams against a bunch of "no name " Japanese teams?

I'm guessing that the Canadian teams and probably Shuster have expenses covered by the Japanese?

Funding must be way down, this event used to have lots of international teams. Now it looks like they've recruited from the local clubs.

I guess after an Olympic year, there is always a slight lull.

I heard a radio interview with Chris Plys of Team Shuster on KFAN yesterday morning, calling in from Japan. He said they were indeed having their travel costs paid for by the tournament.

With Carruthers and team struggling, it could be a good week to iron things out for the rest of the season.

Seems a loooooong way to go for max multiplier of 3.5. Any more than that is bad math.
