If Canada falls out of the metals, what would they be? Noble gases?

Actually Three…..your entirely wrong. Getting to the masses is a waste of time. In reality they don’t matter much. CCA, even less.
Most of the funding for Curling (including CCA) comes from Government grants, Sports Ministry, Health Ministry, etc.
All one has to do is convenience a few government people that there is a possibility that their funding could be linked to a loss for Canada. Even the perception is all that matters. Politicians hate bad press or even the possibility of bad press. They can put their money in places where only good things can happen and it’s a lot safer. Even reading a form posting like this would make them nervous!
Politicians hate, even the wiff of bad press or being associated with losers, so what if the following happened?
Let’s say Edin wins gold at the next Olympics or worst, Canada falls out of the metals altogether. What do you think would happen to the funding to curling? If the women’s loss at the Worlds last year resulted in a reduction of funding of $500K like CCA claimed, what do you think a loss at Olympic level would result in? To be fair it could go two ways, a major increase in funding to get back to the podium which would require major smart lobbying by CCA along with influence from outside sources and we all know CCA is not smart, or a more likely result, a shift in funding to where winning is more likely.
Here’s another rat in the mix. If the NHL doesn’t participate in the Olympics, for Canada to continue to win in hockey, the hockey programs will need a ton of money. So fund hockey or curling…which way do you think that will go? Remember, there is only so much money in the pot to go around.

Sorry you are right. I did not understand anything and was entirely wrong. I was just hoping to inspire you on your crusade. Go for it ! Chase the dream! Make it happen! Contact those few key government people and show them this forum. Prove all us nay-sayers that you were on the right track all along. Sorry to have troubled you. I look forward to all your future posts and will try learn from you for sure! Have a super fantastic day!

So nice to see this post is so on the mark, I'm glad we are so clear now on what is really going on out there, that we were all clueless about this, what a great post.
