Attendance at North Bay.

What did they do to attract such good crowds? I can't remember any championships in Ontario drawing nearly this well. It seems especially hard to believe considering it was an Olympic year and there has been so much coverage. Hope it translates into more curlers in that area. Very impressed that the organisers must have done a good job. Hopefully some lessons to learn for other hosts.

Remember the crowds in Ottawa when Rachael Homan won the Scotties. Wow, impressive. I
don't think they cared too much for JJ. Homan is a big t.v. draw as well. Looking forward to the next Grand Slam.

North Bay hosted the Cdn mixed in 2015 which was successful and success breeds success, Volunteers are eager to participate again, local sponsors had already seen benefits and really what else is there to in NB on a Tuesday night. The Battalion had to leave town.
Also the CC and WCF have finally realized that a 3500 seat arena that is full is much better than a 7000 seat arena with 3500 people attending. Optics!
(Can anyone say empty seats for the Trials in Ottawa?)

I think it was simply the right event in the right place at the right time.

Event was right after the Olympics and benefited from all the Curling exposure.

I was there as a volunteer and North Bay was awesome and extremely welcoming to out of towners. It could draw from the GTA area and Ottawa as well with manageable drives.

Congrats to North Bay!
