no different than the olympics and worlds. A 10-1 team can end up with nothing at those events too. The key is to peak at the end of the week. If you can't do that I'm not sure we want you playing in the worlds for Canada. I agree the bronze means little at the Brier but may be important in training these teams to come back and play a medal game after disappointing loses when they are tired and deflated.

You are correct, sir. Such is the Page Playoff system.

Two eastern teams playing in Alberta. No more need be said.
ML, I attended the World's in 2007 at Rexall Place. Glenn was the Canuck.
If I recall the weekend draws were sellouts. Playoffs/tiebreakers on Friday, semi on Sat morn, final on late Sun morn, mid-aft in the East.
Historical footnote: the program refers to the semi-final as the "BRONZE MEDAL GAMES" (in caps).

Such is the bastardized page playoff system. See my post above.

Really a 10 and 3 team is playing for bronze. One that hasn't looked very good over the last two days.

I see your point. The original Page Playoff system had no Bronze medal game.
Regardless, I still dislike the Page playoff system. A reasonable alternative syste is: 4 plays 3, winner plays 2, winner plays 1.

Nice to see someone new make the final. Will be interesting to see how it plays out
Manitoba is not playing well..not as good as they were a couple years ago and northern ontario is. However in these last 2 games all the bad breaks such as picks have gone in favor of team Northern Ontario so it will be interesting to see how they would handle adversity like that in a final situation.

You've got to think that experience favours Manitoba in this final. Jeff's been in this exact situation (win the 1-2 game) 3 times before and won 3 Brier finals that way. His team has Brier, World Championship and Olympic experience to take with them.
Jacobs, by contrast - probably this team's biggest-ever game was the Grand Slam final earlier this season. They've been playing incredibly well and come in riding a hot win streak. They did get caught a little bit in the semi-final with a few questionable calls that worked out to their advantage - if Manitoba can make more shots than Ontario did this morning, those little strategic misfires could be more costly.
Should be a great battle!

Jacobs also gave himself a huge boost in trying to overtake Epping for that last autoberth spot to trials. May come down to the players.

Experience could favor manitoba. It might also not mean a thing. Sometimes the fact that this is the first time in this big a final actually pumps a team up and gets rid of the nerves

I'd like to see Brad win so that both our World's reps would be tyros so we could show the depth of Canadian curling.

What's the use of the Bronze Medal Game if TSN isn't even going to put it on tv??

I'm not worried about the guys. We've won four out of the last five World's with four different teams. It's Rachel who might face rougher weather. We have only won one of the last five Women's World's.

It's being streamed on the TSN website. Weirdly, it's on one of the RDS channels. Of course they have been pushing curling lately because of next year's Scotties.

What a complete and utter embarrassment
You can see that both teams are embarrassed to be there. I feel embarrassment as I watch them. I feel embarrassed how non-curlers may react seeing this spectacle. This bronze medal game is an embarrassment to the sport of curling.
The best result would be tied up in the 9th end and both teams run out of time on the clock..put an end to this for good.

Even the NFL is considering dumping the Pro Bowl because the players regard it as a joke. Were the curling gods to be so wise.

Bad sportsmanship on Wayne's part. On the last end he slams his broom down chipping the ice surface. Then when shaking hands with Northern Ontario does not say good game or good luck like the rest of his team mates he just glares at the northern Ontario.
