Hayley Wickenheiser holds the record for Canadian Olympic Gold Medalists.
Should Lawes/Morris win the the Mixed Doubles, they'll both be half way there.

In a way I forgot and in a way I didn't. Assumed that " W " should be called Canada's record holder because she won 4 Gold plus 1 Silver.
Thought Hefford had merely won 4 Golds ! ! ! ! not realizing that she too had also won a Silver.
So best we them Canada's Olympic joint record holders ?

Playoffs
Morris and especially Lawes by going 6-1 through the round robin have shown that they are the class of the field. Unfortunately they have gained no advantage in the playoffs other than hammer. This highlights the benefits of the Page playoff system which gives the loser of the 1 vs 2 game a second chance. Anything can happen in a single game. Win or lose they are the best.

I agree that the "page" system is fairer for that reason and works well in most other tournaments.

How about like the old pro bowling tour. 4 vs 3 winner plays 2 winner plays 1. Top team right to the finals?
Sometimes the RR winner should be given an advantage other than hammer. Do they get colour as well? They should get both.

yes they were just mentioning about the rocks they picked and did not pick the set that Kaitlyn had trouble with.

Kaitlyn appears to be throwing about 15% but the scorers are kind to her, giving her 50%.
She's really soiled herself thus far. Pressure on Jonny Mo to be near perfect - play a so-called Coco Jones game - where you try to tie things up prior to your last rock shooter! (ie. Kim Kelly used as last rocks, Coco with the incidental shots)

Kaitlyn continues to soil herself
Haven't seen her curl this bad since her first game under JJ at the Olympics - Morris is carrying her but if this continues Kaitlyn will be curling for a bronze medal tomorrow.
In real terms she's curling about 10%
Even John Mo at 90% can't hide a number that hideous!
PS. Hope she didn't catch the "Sweaty Pancake Boy" flu from the Korean fella?

Come on Kaitlyn!
I know that 99 times out of 100 a top level skip would have chosen the draw to the 4ft at the end of the 4th, but surely the fact that Kaitlyn is clearly struggling and wanted to play the in off suggests that they should have just gone with that?

It's amazing how good John Morris has been. He single-handedly has Canada ahead of Norway halfway through this semifinal. He is one against three out there, with Kaitlyn seemingly having bet against her own team. It's going to be tough for Kaitlyn to recover when her final shot mistakes are so painfully exposed in this format.

Once Norway drops a 3-bomb on them John & Kaitlyn will go into panic mode and get blown up . . .

Resby Coutts & Stoughton must be scoring Lawes - they have her at 47% - NO WAY SHE'S MADE 1/2 HER SHOTS!
Norway Blondie is lickin' her chops - knowing that she's totally superior to Kaitlyn tonite!
Ooops - now Johnny Mo infected by the "Sweaty Pancake Boy Virus'

Nordic Blondie makes her first major goof-up in 5th end, allowing Mo/Lawes to steal 2.
Good shot by Lawes to boot.
Need to hold Norway to a "beggars deuce" at most!
Then close it out!

Kaitlyn woke up from her nap in 7...realised no JJ to carry her. Morris staying remarkably calm.

Got to be fair to Morris. He took a lot of abuse in the trials and in a couple of games here, but he's really done a great team mate job today. Touch wood it continues through to the gold medal ceremony!!

Morris knows when to step up...just ask Kevin Martin.

Hope you are choking on your words now.
John played a marvelous game today- supporting Kaitlyn's struggle, deferring to her choices (most of the time). He showed a great maturity that is often missing. Way to go team!
I believe that one of the US announcers is Kevin Martin,

John Morris was the best 295 lb. curler I've ever seen tonite. OK, he's really 185 but he carried 110 lbs. of Kaitlyn to victory tonite.
His demeanour was incredible - he didn't let Kaitlyn get out of sorts (not that she would) and managed to close out the Norwegians with ease. (although the Norwegians did a great job closing themselves out)
Don't think they'll get away with Kaitlyn curling 57% in the gold medal game!

Thanks. This one isn't Martin; I would recognize him. It's strange, because I was watching the NBC Olympic stream online and it is one commentator, but the NBC TV broadcast is someone completely different. The online was a soft-spoken North American man and a Scottish woman, but they never intro themselves throughout any match.

On to the final
John and Kaitlyn faced down some adversity today; I'm sure they are a stronger team as a result. Kaitlyn's last shot (and sweep) in 7 was a beauty, basically ended the game.
One of the keys to high performance athletic pursuits is the ability to put mistakes in the past and live in the present, and we saw that today.
I think this performance bodes well for the gold medal game which is at 0300 hrs Tuesday out here.
