Stu Sells Men Toronto Scores

If there's anyone in the building that sees this, the scores are only updating for the women, not the men.

The Stu Sells Toronto Tankard is one of the major curling events for men in Ontario. Over the last five years winners have included Gushue, McEwen, Carruthers, Howard and Stoughton.

What made it so intriguing this year was the success of a bunch of relatively unknown "bluenosers" from Nova Scotia. After losing their first two games they rattled off wins against Howard ( 6-4 ), Bottcher (7-2 ) and Epping ( 7-1 ) only to lose the finals in an extra end to Carruthers ( 6-5 ).

Well said. Great to see a team not in the "favoured" 10 do so very well against some of the best. Hope to see them excel the rest of the season.

I'm a Gushue supporter but I have to say that the team from Nova Scotia really impressed me as did the McEwen/Carruthers rink. Happy to see Carruthers win the final with McEwen throwing last rock. Keep at it guys. I've a feeling you're going to do well.

I find myself recently cheering for younger teams playing in tour events. Just hoping that a younger generation of talent will blossom when they move to the elite level I guess. I still want Canada to send the strongest team to the Worlds and Olympics and this will always be a top ranked team. However for me it is just more interesting when younger teams have some early success against the "big boys". Same for the ladies.

It's definitely more interesting when young teams not in the favoured 10 have some early success.

Because of that I was hoping Isabella Wrana, the Swedish World Jr. Champion in 2017, would be extended a sponsor's exemption for the upcoming Grand Slam Beef Masters in Truro. Not that Edin and H'borg need more help exactly!

By the same token, I would have preferred someone like Braden Calvert ( age 23 ) or Tanner Horgan ( age 20 ) or even the bluenosers from N.S. who did so well last week in the Stu Sells, being offered an exemption as well.

I'm sure they would all just love a chance to try and run with the big dogs.
