The equivalent would be showing top 50 plays of the month for the 100th time instead of showing the live semi final at Wimbledon. Too much? In the big picture this late at night, who really cares about a meaningless tennis match in Miami, really. Show the TENNIS on the replay 5 times tomorrow instead of the live curling. I'm sure the Scottish curling announcers can pretend to be in China as well as the Canada crew.

As a player and fan of both curling and tennis, I say that you are completely wrong.
The tennis match is "meaningless" to you because you don't care about tennis. No doubt tennis fans are quite happy that they can watch this LIVE (not 'meaningless') tennis match. Would it be better if TSN simply cancelled the tennis because there was a rain delay? Would that be fair to tennis fans? Oh... that's right - you don't care about the tennis fans - you only care about what YOU want.
Your whining because you didn't get what you want is very petty, at best.

It's unfortunate that, due to a rain delay in the tennis match, TSN is not showing the curling that is on their schedule. But stuff like this happens sometimes. Were it the gold medal game, with Canada playing, I doubt that TSN would have continued with the tennis (or they would have put either the tennis or the curling on another of their channels).

For you to say that curling is important and tennis is meaningless is both arrogant and inaccurate. If you're going to comment, at least make an attempt to do so fairly and objectively.

Did TSN at any point have the bronze medal game scheduled for now?
Or did someone simply assume that it would be the bronze medal game, because the time corresponds to the start of the bronze medal game?

In my TV listings, it says simply 'Playoff game' for the curling scheduled to begin at 7pm Pacific, 10pm Eastern time - nothing about the bronze medal game. And now, they're showing the Canada - Russia 1 vs 2 playoff game (they're showing it from the beginning, even though it started late).

So, if TSN never planned to show the bronze medal game, I'd say that curling fans are being treated quite well, in that they're replaying the Canada-Russia game from the beginning, and not just the last half.

If TSN never officially had the bronze medal game on their schedule, despite the whining from some, of course they were right to show live tennis over a day-old curling game.

Scotland takes bronze

Scotland wins the bronze 6-4. It was a tight game throughout with Sweden having an edge until the last 3 ends or so when the Scots really started to shoot with accuracy. Sweden didn't shoot badly, but they needed perfection in the last 2 ends and missed the key shots by tiny bits. Scotland stole 1 in each of the last 2 to get the victory.

I'd add that throughout, Scotland looked like they were having fun, which they didn't seem to be during the round robin matches I saw. They play so much better when they're not being tough on themselves.

TSN said on their website that they would only show the Bronze medal if Canada was in it.

Here's proof from the 20th. It clearly says Bronze medal (Only if Canada)

I would love to know the TV viewership by country. If it's really dominated by Canada then that makes this final's start time completely ridiculous.

Of course, I am also of the belief that holding these tournaments outside of Canada is more depressing than it is helpful. The rest of the world really doesn't seem to care.

Chinese and Japanese viewership dwarfs anything Canada can even imagine. There's a reason most of their games are covered when they're participating.

For an example, during the Olympic qualifier in 2013 in Germany, the audiences between these two countries totalled 178 million over something like 18 draws, averaging nearly 10 million viewers per game.

Does anyone know if there's a stream available while in Canada for the gold medal game happening right now? I can never seem to get TSN to work. Just says "an error has occurred..."

If they enjoy watching the sport that much, why, then, were there only 12 people in the stands throughout these world championships in a city with such a massive population?

I am able to get it through bell.ca by clicking on their live tv links. TSN doesn't work at all. May be a browser issue, but thanks for the advice.

It looks like Rachel Homan and her team might be finally ready to start laying claim to the dominance people predicted of her 4 years ago, perhaps prematurely. Now though she looks ready.

Clearly the heavy favorite for both Canada's Olympic berth and the Olympic Gold next year already.

Such an amazingly well-rounded team, to boot! Rachel has really matured into a composed and communicative young woman - a young woman who happens to be the best shooter in the world.

They'll be heavy favourites at the Roar of the Rings. JJ wants to get back into the Olympics so bad she can taste it - but Homan is make no mistake - THE BIG FAVE. . . .

immo the Top 3 will be Homan, Jones & Michelle Englot. Who knows if someone like Kris McCarville or Val Sweeting will roar out of the chute.

But the big elephant in the room - will just reside a stone's throw from their home arena.

Just like 2013 when Jones nabbed the women's Olympic berth in Winnipeg.

I dont know who the 2nd favorite for the ROTR even is. Jones is clearly past her prime and will continue going down but you cant count her out at this point either. Englot had a great Scotties and maybe has her best team in her long career, but she is pretty old, and duplicating her Scotties performance again wouldnt be easy, and even there she didnt win ultimately.

I almost think Sweeting, McCarville, Carey have a marginally better chance of winning the ROTR simply due to youth and still having upside which you cant really say of oldies like Jones or Englot, but that is just a hunch. Either way it would be a huge upset if anyone but Homan wins it, probably the most gigantic favorite men or women heading into a Canadian Olympic Trials ever.

Congratulations Team CANADA! Undefeated. Well deserved. Keep it up!

For all of the negative comments about the various teams and players on this forum, I have to say that it is clear that every curler put their heart and soul on the line for every game. Tonight the smiles on their faces, regardless of where they ranked at the end, showed true sportsmanship. They were happy to be at the premier curling event representing their country. They are the 13 best teams in the world. Not bad eh?

I have to quibble a little bit with the 13 best teams in the world part. I am sure there are more than 1 team from Canada, and some of the other strong countries that are superior to the South Korean, Danish, German, Italian or Czech reps for instance.

Well, the final was disappointing. Was hoping for a good one but the Russians and in particular sidorova never showed up. They were nervous and it showed. Canada's gold medal drought was going to end eventually, you knew it would .

The best team of the week won though. Congrats to team Homan. The 4th time was the charm

Really happy for Scotland to get bronze. Enjoy watching the muirhead rink, inconsistent and at times frustrating as they can be. First world medal for Lauren too. They were never really at their best here but they caught hard. Was a strong game in the bronze match and you knew it would be .

Feel for Sweden though. They had a good week and 4th is gonna sting but they will be back many times

As for Russia, what a great event for them. They made history for their country again in getting to the final. I would be lieing if I said I wasn't pulling for them to win, but that's who I'm am, supporting underdogs. Sidorova has been one of the best and most consistent teams at world's in the last 4 years though. I feel confident that we will see hem in another final and hopefully there's one learned and experience gains his year will help them better manage things.

It was clearly stated on the TSN website, bronze broadcast only if Canada was in it.

I just can't get past the abject stupidity of a format where you can lose the 3-4 playoff game and then still get a chance to finish 3rd (over the team that beat you in the 3-4 game, no less). Same thing happened at the Scotties this year. It's just completely ridiculous.

Canada was clearly the top team all week. I will have to eat my words, Adam has made a huge difference to Team Homan. Emma more assertive, Rachel not fretting over misses.

Lol, TSN is probably used to Canada always being in the bronze medal game, therefore they scheduled it.

From what I saw this week, this is the team we should send to the Olympics, I hope they win it all.

Congratulations to the best curling parent ever Ott-Am
