A magazine article

Whether it’s on their minds or not, Jennifer Jones and her Team Canada mates served notice Saturday that they don’t intend to leave the Ford World Women’s Curling Championship the same way Canada’s four-player teams left PyeongChang, South Korea – without a medal at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

The above article was written by John Korobanik who is a writer at Eye Opener.

MY RESPONSE!!!

Personally I don't believe this has even entered their minds. I do hope they win the gold at Worlds but I don't think they will see it as "serving notice". Didn't give much thought to that opening paragraph did you Mr. Korobanik. It's very hurtful.

Perhaps a link to the article would be useful?

There was no inference that this was in any way intimated by the team. Mere choice of words chosen by writer to reflect their strong and dominant play to start the week.

It's almost a cliche among Sports Writers that any good performance following a bad one by a team (even if the team isn't the same players) is seen as "Serving Notice the team is back" or "Serving Notice that things have changed" or whatever.

It's fluff to get the piece flowing, and worthy of ignoring.
