US coverage of Men's Worlds

Does anyone know if the Men's World will be shown in the US?

Except, of course, with it being held in Edmonton, the times are all much more sensible from our point of view.

Well that sucks, in the US the only way you can watch is if you have two obscure networks that aren't even on my cable system?

How does that promote the game?

Curling is still a pretty obscure sport in the USA. Instead of complaining, why not pony up and support the networks willing to cover it? The numbers will help make the bigger networks see it as being worthwhile to cover.

You're not missing much if NBCSN's coverage is like their Women's coverage. They would jump into an end after 8 rocks were thrown most of the time. It was more like watching highlights.

If you're in the US, and you have access to ESPN3, they show TSN's coverage. ESPN3 is available free online to most cable subscribers. You should go check it out.

PS, they probably don't have the Worlds on their schedule yet. They likely won't until the day it starts. At least that's how it was for the Brier.

ESPN3/WatchESPN won't have any worlds, as NBC has exclusive rights. ESPN shows TSN coverage of Curling Canada's Season of Champions events, and the Brier was the last one this season.

Well that's just great. NBCSN has the worst coverage

Many providers don't even *offer* those networks, so there's no way to "pony up"

We sure enjoy our canadian coverage and feel bad for the curling addicts( like us) in the US. While the discussion only talks about the media, does the big US curling associations/administration etc not have any clout or do they not push to promote?

Sounds like good letter/email/phonecall campaign for regions that don't offer it. If done right, I'm sure we could get enough people contacting the providers who aren't offering it yet.

For Women's Worlds, most of the games shown were just the WorldCurlingTV feed with s quick intro and outro. At least on Universal HD. Not bad at all.

They have made a big push to promote. A couple of years ago there were only a couple of games on TV and on an even less carried channel. And while it's not ESPN, NBCSN is the primary channel for the NHL, and one of the channels used during the Olympics broadcasts. So it's not Canada coverage, but an improvement, that will hopefully get good enough ratings to continue to improve.
