You had to play a guard with your last rock. Or at least some kind of draw. You just couldn't risk moving your counter in the four foot.

The only hit you could have played is peeling out the far red rock and erring on the side of missing it all together.

It's too bad that Joanne always deferred to Reid on strategy calls. This was a case where one of them should have insisted on not playing the only possible shot that risked giving up four.

Definitely a heartbreaking way to lose. They played 30+ very good ends in the playoffs and lost the gold on the last end. I realize that mixed doubles isn't nearly as important as their regular team play, but to lose like that is going to stick with them for a long time.

i actually noticed jo anne doing that a lot this week. reid was always the one talking her into shots and explaining out strategy or assuring her that she made a good shot and what the opposition had left.

i guess its maybe just the fact that reid is a skip and jo anne has never been a skip, maybe thats why she was deferring to reid, basically letting him call the game. but there were times when i feel like she could have and should have had more input in the shots called. she knows what she's doing as much as he does

but maybe thats what makes a good team. maybe its natural for one to sit back and let the other make the majority of calls

It was funny, in the post game interview Reid kind of acknowledged this by saying Jo's my skip now or something along those lines. Heartbreaking way to lose the gold for sure.

I took that to be a reference to her throwing last rock, rather than one of deferring to her for shot calls. That's just my guess, of course, and probably not fair to try to read anything into what is said that soon after that kind of loss.

I must have seen the wrong score, congrats to the Swiss.

I was wondering if Courtney would make a short trip to be there for the Champions Cup final.

WPG Free Press just posted an article announcing that Portage La Prairie will host the Mixed Doubles Olympic Curling Trials - January 2-7 2018... so.. in eight months.

Carruthers completely misread Courtney's last rock.

He tells her she can hit 1/3 of the rock and be OK.

Drag effect comes into play.

Needed near nose/inside nose to make the shot.
