Hello CurlingZone!

I'm wondering if anyone can help with suggestions for how to run the second half of my league's season.

After next week we will have finished a 13 team round robin that started at the start of the season, so every team will have played 12 games with one bye week (we have six sheets so there's one bye per week)

This leaves 10 weeks in the season. I would like to split the league into boxes but the odd number makes this complicated. I would also like to try and ensure that no team has more than one bye over the last 10 weeks.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the best way to do this?

This doesn't stop a team from getting two byes.

Break it up the teams into an A and B division putting 7 into the B. The A division plays a double round robin over the 10 weeks, best record wins the league.

The B division plays 7 weeks of round robin with a bye for each team. The last three weeks have a 8 team tournament, top seed gets a second bye to the semi's. The low seed loser gets the second bye, in each of the next two.

Not perfect, but quite honestly by the end of a 23 week season who is going to not want another bye!?

Thanks biter.

I like the double round robin and it's something I'd thought of. I'd really like to spread the byes around a bit more, but you're probably right about people not being bothered about an extra one at the end of the season.
