Makes you wonder why that venue was chosen. They had to know that if it was held there this would be an issue. I mean..look at this. This is a joke

And a slap in the face to organizers who probably had to cancel any other league/rentals. Sad state of affairs if NL curling can't develop enough teams to at least give Gushue some competition. Instead of messing with the Brier, the CCA really needs to help some of these provinces with their curling development.

It would be too bad if the St. John's airport is "snowed in".

Therein lies the problem, money being spent in the wrong areas. Get curlers into the clubs and the rest will take care if itself.

Don't count James Pahl in Alberta out! He's a great curler and can carry a team by himself. This is the best team Pahl has had in recent memory. And with the success of his previous teams, I wouldn't be surprised if he made a good run. If he made it, it'd be 20 years since he played with Kevin Martin in his only Brier appearance.

Here's a little more info/perspective on the NFLD playdown. I'm not from NFLD and have no opinion, but on the surface it looks like a tough situation for their provincial association to navigate. A bit of context might be helpful to posters here.

i know this will come as a shock to some but brad gushue will represent newfoundland

his is just getting sad. there is not one province anywhere else where the parity between the top team and everyone else is so huge
