Rachel Homan STOH Preview
Rachel doesn't have a spot in the STOH yet but I can't imagine a world where she doesn't either make it thru the Ontario playdowns - or snag the final spot as the play-in team prior to the event.
Homan is dominating team in Canada, no question. Just too much shot-pelting consistency and after a brief experiment with nuanced curling they're back doing what they do best. Continuous 8 or 10 ends of shot-pelting, most member percentages in the high 70s to low 90s. Show me any other team in Canada that can match that? None! In fact only Anna Hasselborg can keep up with those shot-pelting percentages on a world basis.
I'd say Homan is 90 to 92% certain to snag the Ontario spot in this year's Hearts - and if somehow she comes up out of sorts or sour - she's at least 85% (or more) certain to win her play-in game. Those are pretty much overwhelming odds.
If Mission 1 accomplished I can't see anyone knocking her out of the #1 spot at the end of round-robin play.
Jones, Einarson, Scheidegger, Robertson, Fleury, McCarville, Walker, Harrison, etc. are all gamers of varied degree - but none have the consistency or rock control of Team Homan.
At this point - (way too early) rounding out the Top 4 should be Scheidegger, Einarson & Jones - but as we've all seen all the above teams can go into deep funkerspace for periods of time. It could just as easily be McCarville, Fleury & Walker with everyone else on the outside looking in.
FELIZ NAVIDAD . . . .
