2013 PACCs

In Shanghai, China... Starts in less than 90 minutes.

According to a friend who volunteered at the 2011 PACCs in Nanjing, this event was supposed to be in Australia.

The "big news" was the last minute withdrawal of both Kazakhstan Teams from competition.

So there are 5 Women's Teams and 6 Men's Teams (Chinese Taipei only has a Men's Team).

Chinese Men have an auto berth to the Worlds as they host in Beijing next year so between New Zealand, Korea and Japan will be fighting for the sole spot for the Worlds. Hugh Milliken is Skipping for the Aussies so I gather they are the long shot.

The women's event will once again be between the Flowers, "Jessica" Kim and Team Aiomori 2006 "Ogasawara (nee Onodera)." 2 spots for Saint John.

IMO, I believe this is the last time we see the Flowers together at the PACCs. They have curled together for 12 years. I hope that they will win their 7th PACC Title so they can go out on top in their home nation.

I don't see a link here for line scores. Is there any online coverage. Will we be depending on you CS, to post from your handphone?

I hope to follow this.

Thanks for the link Stoner. When is the "last chance" event again? Must be pretty soon.

Am a fan of the Korean Women's team. Glad to see the W. Yes, Upset by Taiwan (aka Chinese Taipai)!

bookmarking link - 8-)

5th getting some playing time

In 2011, the Flower's usual Alternate Jinli "Lisa" Liu got into 2 maybe 3 games with Yan Zhou, the lead taking a break.

Last year, Lisa played 2 in the 2nd match against Kazakstan with Yin Liu skipping the squad as Bingyu had a cold.

Just now, Yilun Jiang, skip of the B Team who is the 5th player for the Flowers skipped the match in place of Bingyu. Not sure if Bingyu is injured or ill or whether this was done intentionally...

Looks like we are headed for a Korea v. China final on the ladies side.

Finals on Tuesday

2:00 PM Local Time

Women

China v. Korea

Men

Japan v China

So all 4 teams playing for Gold are in the WM/WCCs...

The Semis were just shown on CCTV5 and the finals will also be televised. I watch Ogasawra threw two duds of a shot in 6 and 9 with her last rock giving Bingyu the opportunity to hit for 3 each time. Japan does not scare me one bit for the Flowers in Fussen based on this type of play from Ayumi.
