Question New teams and rumours SK

Sherry Anderson has left Stephanie Lawton to skip her own team. Just posted on Facebook.

And Trish Paulsen replaces Sherry on Lawton's team. Should be an interesting team to watch next season.

interested in seeing what kind of team sherry can pull together for next season. Stef really found the best young curler in saskatchewan right now to play 3rd for her so she got a great replacement. now its just about how they connect.

According to Sherry's Facebook page...Jessica Hanson, Elyse LaFrance & Brie Spilchen. Apparently team Lawton wanted someone younger. Personally, I think Sherry was key to taking them to the playoffs at the Scotties

I have mixed feelings - at times I feel like she was an important glue on that team (tons of experience, calming influence - as both Stef and her sis Marilese can be oddly panic stricken), but others I felt like she was holding them back (her defensive strategy may have worked pre-2005, but you just can't be that defensive and expect to defeat a line up of top teams one after another...you will typically be good enough to make playoffs as you have the skills to beat the bottom feeders and mid-rangers, but come playoff time, if they want to win, they need more rocks in play to defeat the top guns when you need to win 3-4 tough games).

And the real sad thing is, in the ends (not games, because they always were defensive except for when forced to be offensive) that they did play offensive, they curled well and made some key shots.

This is about Stefanie and team aiming for 2018. Sherry is a wonderful player (certainly in the conversation for best player never to win a Scotties), but the Lawton team needs to get better to have a shot at the big three. With Paulsen, they might be able to break into that group. In a lot of ways it reminds me of Jones switching from Cathy O to Kaitlyn Lawes. It's not about the player leaving, it's about the potential of the player you're bringing in.
