Curling Iq

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts were about curling iq's, ie. the intelligence of a skip (or third) as applied to his success, demenaour and on-ice presentation. I'll put down my numbers based on regular IQ tests.

Kevin Martin - 180, genius level
Glenn Howard - 170, not far behind
Brad Gushue - 155, learned from the best
Russ Howard - 155, great teacher
Rick Folk - 145
Ken Watson - 145, legendary winner
Kevin Koe - 140, tremendous, still learning
Randy Ferbey - 130, solid thinker
Eddy Werenich- 125, should have won more
Ernie Richardson 120, kept things simple, more about hitting
Ron Northcott - 115, no FGZ during Owl's time
Jeff Stoughton - 110, curling IQ his weakness compared to the giants
Don Duguid - 105, great basic game, didn't think that far ahead
Pat Ryan - 105
Kerry Burtnyk - 105
Pee Wee Pickering - 100
Hector Gervais - 100
Terry Braunstein - 98, too many mistakes

btw, I'd rate myself and fresca about the same - around 75 to 80

In the women's game:

Elisabet Gustafson - 145, a genius
Sandra Schmirler - 140, not quite Gustafson levels but better curlers
Annette Norberg - 135, totally smart
Jennifer Jones - 125, minor strategic problems here and there
Colleen Jones - 120, very smart in a defensive way
Joyce Mckee - 120, veteran superstar
Shannon Kleibrink - 110, effective during her heyday, never won a Scott
Heather Nedohin - 115, above average, tortured genius
Sherry Middaugh - 100, average
Stef Lawton - 95
Amber Holland - 90
Connie Laliberte - 80 (when FGZ came in Connie was lost)
Under 65 - Staci Devereaux, Lana Vey, Barb Spencer, Dot Rose, Crystal Webster,Tracy Horgan, Distracted Danish Blondes.

Left out one major women's team. Anyone know who?

Well buddy, I'll give you one thing. You sure are not scared to jump into it with both feet....and without your gumboots on. Good luck!

Shoepp, Nordby, Scott, and really no Homan.

OK, good work....

Scott is easy 110, her short stature and lack of heavy weight unrelated to her knowledge!

Schoepp - has had some erratic shooters but she somehow manages to torment well-known teams for the last 25 years - ABOUT 120

Nordby - a high-wire act, kinda similar to Heather Nedohin in a way - around 110

Homan - the obvious exclusion, just based on what I've seen so far she's an easy 125/130. Very smart, craft for a young gal. Perhaps blips vs Tracey Horgan, Kaitlyn Lawes and world gold are behind her.

Princess Muirhead - around 120/125. Very smart, craft and coached. Only deficiency is refusal to realize her curling IQ surpasses her team's shot-making abilities.

Lady Miri Ott - around 120, underated for curling smarts. An example of someone who's IQ takes into account her team's shot-making abilities and more importantly DISABILITIES!

Wang (China) - 80, still learning, technically solid, mentally below average.

Forgot 1 important Sask'n Legend

Vera Pezer.....

Probably at least 135 curling IQ.

4 national championships!

Anyone who can replace Joyce McKee as team skip and keep Joyce on the team is a genius. Same for Joyce.

Wonder if Joyce or Vera ever read this stuff? Naaah!!!

as much as i dont agree with this thread im still for some reason somehwat annoyed that you left out some fantastic mens names:

Andy kapp - who for years kept germany at the top of the mens game to spite having often only average team mates infront of him.The number of times he had to stand on his head was staggering..i really cant think of an example of one man carrying his team over history more than andy did.

Peja lindholm - 3 time world champion..need i say more?

Pal trulsen - 2002 olympic gold medalist

Markus Eggler - switzerland-s most recent world champion..and even that was a while back. The brain behind ralph stockli's success..lets be honest he really got most of his best results and became alot more consistent once he brought markus on board

David murdoch - 2 time world, 3 time european champion

Thomas Ulsrud - olympic silver medallist, 2 time european champion

go ahead, how would you rate these guys?

From high to low:

Murdoch
Trulsen
Lindholm

Haven't watched enough Eggler, Kapp is OK but not in same league as the three I rated.

I nominate this thread as the most tasteless, useless thread ever on this site. Given that the creator has a "Curling IQ" of about 30, it's not surprising.
