rules on tampering with opponents equipment

Newbie curler here. Started at the beginning of this year and have been having a blast. Curled lead for most of the league but our third got injured before the last game and I moved to third for that week and for our club bonspiel that followed.

We did well in the bonspiel considering that we have two novices on our team and made it to the semi-final of the 1st event. But in that game, I am now pretty convinced that the opposing team (probably their third) took my elastic slider and substituted a deformed one (I had been leaving it on the bench when going down to call the shot for our skip after delivering my rocks). Initially I had assumed it was an honest mix up by someone on the sheet next to us but there are just too many things pointing to it being our opponents, including the initials of the opposing skip on top of the slider in black magic marker (I did not know his last name until I looked it up on the club web page after I got home from the game).

We follow the USCA for Club and Bonspiel Use rules and have a few local exceptions and additions. Looking through those, I was very surprised to find no rules against tampering with opponents equipment. Sure, it's a dickhead move (like intentionally burning a rock that is obviously going to help your opponents, which they also probably did) but are there really no rules against screwing with your opponents equipment?

I don't think it's technically in the rules, but it absolutely stomps on the spirit of the game.

Are you sure this wasn't an honest mixup? Have you asked them if they grabbed the wrong slider by mistake?

No, I'm not sure it wasn't an honest mix-up. I just never saw two sliders sitting at the end of our sheet to get mixed up, but maybe I just missed the other one or maybe there were two there sometime after I set mine down.

Forget the elastic and use the slip on slider. Doug Flowers can hook you up with one.

Then the only thing that gets mixed up is the grippers. I rarely finish the year with the same gripper I started with.

Let it go. I am sure it was an honest mistake.

The last thing you want to do your first year is alienate a long time member and give everyone the impression you are paranoid (truthfully, I get a little feeling of that in your post).
