I was just looking at the GSOC website. Does anyone know how they are calculating percentages, more particularly using the 'Degree of Difficulty, and what is 'Sweeping/10' and how it is incorporated?

I believe the sweeping statistic is the average percentage of distance/time each rock is swept after release, with 10=100% and 0=0%. A properly thrown draw shot should we swept about 50-80% in order to maintain good control of positioning. 100% means that you probably killed the intended curl, while 0% means you have zero control of the final result for curl or distance.

The DOD is based on some sort of subjective rating system of the degree of difficulty of the shot. I don't know how it is quasi-objectively determined, but I think it is on a scale of 1-5?

Whoever is responsible with assigning these values must have some sort of guidance or cheat-sheet for applying interpretations. Kinda like the ones that exist for scoring shots on a scale of 0-4.

Sweeping is a statistic that's independent from the shooting percentages. It's a stat on its own.

RockDoc is right, the ideal amount of sweeping is between 30 and 60% (3-6/10) and the reason for that is sweeping is your room for error. If your inturns are being swept 9/10 or 90% of the distance, it's a good indicator that you're tight and/or the skip needs to give you more ice.

The Degree of Difficulty is built into the modifiers so when a shot descriptor is selected, it adds to the difficulty, which is multiplied by the base rating.
