Champions Cup thread

I’ve got a question about all these subs playing at the Champions Cup. What happens with the CTRS points that are earned in this event? Do the points just all go to the teams as normal, or do they only get 75% of them and the other 25% goes with the sub back to their normal teams?

So long as the teams have 3 of the original 4, they earn full points, spares get none

No points should be awarded at any event not using WCF rules of play.

ie-go test your clownshow no tick rule somewhere else and stop turning our sport into the laughing stock of Olympic sports.

^ Agreed.

And I must say that the number of spares for this event is astounding. To say that this is a world class tournament, with this number of missing regulars, is like saying a spring training baseball game is equal to a World Series game.

Add to that the fact that the great majority of spares are wearing shirts and jackets with the missing player's name on them, instead of their own name - which looks quite amateurish. In my opinion, it's better to wear a neutral 'uniform', as John Morris was doing, than to wear clothing with someone else's name on it.

Maybe it's a case of sponsorships dictating what the players can and cannot wear - which would not be surprising, but it would be wrong.

You mean their names are on the uniform? Thought their outfits are especially ugly and distracting with the hundreds of names on each person this week. Cannot and don’t try to read any of it.

Yes, the uniforms have become rather NASCAR-esque, haven't they?

As for the names somewhere within the maze of logos and colours... if I recall correctly, there were 2 Homans on one team, 2 (female) McEwens on one team, Jim Cotter had converted to Swedism and changed his name... etc., etc....

It's not cheap to do what these teams do for nine or ten months of the year. Shouldn't they provide their sponsors with whatever exposure they can get?
