Still hoping for 7-4 for NS. Silly loss to Quebec in their first game. They'd be sitting in a great position for 4th right now without that loss.

One thing I will say...all great skips/last rock throwers draw against 3 especially when you only need full 8 to win and only full 12 to only give a steal of 1. Mary-Anne made a lot of draws to 4 foot during that game so why she chose to hit on 10 is .... ??? Apparently she drew to button/pin to win in the extra.......

I guess it just goes down to confidence as russ says. You play the shot you are most comfortable with. Yes most skips would draw in that scenario but marya anne had alot of room to roll to as well and she had the shot made , its just that colleen made a bad line call.

I bet anything the aftneroon feature game is PEI v.s Nova Scotia

You have the battle of 2 4 loss teams and the late charge by Nova Scotia. Its the most interesting and meaningful game on the ice at the time and now that Nova Scotia isnt afraid of keeping rocks in play it might not be that bad

Thumbs down CAN VS MAN

I CANNOT BELIEVE THE ANNOUNCERS COMMENTS TOWARDS TEAM CAN ON THEIR GAME. IT IS ALL ABOUT JJ. YOU THINK THERE WOULD BE MORE SUPPORT FOR TEAM CANADA. I GUESS BECAUSE SHE IS FROM ALBERTA THAT THE ANNOUNCERS HAVE A PROBLEM WITH.

TSN is far too balanced in only extolling positives of both squads!

Agreed, I only turned the game on halfway through the 7th, and I've been quite impressed. Minimal natter, no slipups with names/provinces etc, and no terrible discussions of strategy (something I've noticed Russ and Linda starting to do, perhaps they're bored and not really paying attention?)

As discussed Lawes isn't key-shotting. Puts enormous pressure on JJ to finish up.

I guess the team members better be careful or she might have to replace them as well, since that is how she does it

I haven't watched every game, but to me it seems that Russ hasn't really brought his A game this week. Case in point, in yesterday's Can-MB game in the 7th end, on Nedohins last shot, the obvious call was a freeze on the rock in the back 8 that Jones had just thrown, but both team Canada and Russ barely looked at that and instead focused on the other side of the sheet. Russ seems very reluctant to be critical of the shots called and instead seems to be playing it safe so as not to offend anyone. This is why I love having Mike Harris call games, he's not afraid to call a spade a spade.

Wake up Ontario.

Did they forget their morning coffee cuz that performance will not get you the championship. Curling 71% vs Jones' 91% will never win you the game.

Hopefully this is a learning game for them. With upcoming games vs NS, PEI & Canada that #2 spot is their goal now.

I think Jones goes 11-0.

Jones & crew look like they will do something they've never done in their amazing careers ...
go undeafeated in the round-robin.

Jones herself has been spectacular 86% for week 93% in this morning

My Thursday morning Scotties thoughts. Adversity is something that will help Homan thrive. It's the way she is wired. She even has a tattoo that has the Canadian Airforce Motto: Per ardua ad astra (Through adversity to the stars).

couple of observations

1. If the curling in the STOH continues to be so bad, they will have to start hosting it in arenas that house 2500 or less just so it looks ok on TV. There really is a huge degree of separation between the 4 or 5 top teams and the bottom 7 or 8.

2. If the CCA is at all interested in marketing womens curling, they need to recognize that it's the same teams year in and year out that are in the playoffs and have to adjust the schedule so that games like MB vs CA and MB vs ON are on for evening viewing. This mornings game was very entertaining but I had to watch it on my computer and hide every time a co-worker walked by TSN needs to step up and demand this as part of their contract.

3. The world championships were never more successful then when they had the women and men together. I would entertain the idea of doing that for our national championships. I am sure that from a corporate sponsor standpoint they make more money having separate events, but in my opinion the STOH is an event that could use a re-think. I am sure the curlers would love curling in front of 15,000 people like the Men will do next week.

Just some thoughts ... rightly or wrongly

They had to lose eventually. What was it, 30 straight wins? They are in good shape for the 1v2 game, though they may have to beat Nedohin in the last draw to secure it.

Wow, an interesting idea but there would be way too much going on in one location.

I say five sheets, 8 end games and two draws a day will gather more spectators into the arena. Add in internet coverage for non televised games too.

I don't think it's fair to reshuffle the draw after knowing who the teams are that represent the provinces. I do think the CCA uses the same draw every year - they are all numbered 1-12 and then they may randomly assign a team a number and fill the sched in, or they may loosely rank them. I see this happen with the Brier where ONT vs AB every last round robin game for the last few years. I don't have a problem with them "seeding" the provinces based on last years standings or cumulative standings over a few years so that chances are you will see the top two teams playing each other on the last draw and similar cases for the top 4 or 5 teams playing each other in the final days. But to chance the schedule based on the teams you would start to see people ticked off because of when the play, back to back, etc. You need to have a reason for it prior to declaration of teams. Using the same draw sched and seeding based on past standings seems logical to me.

You are overly dramatic every year and revise your predictions and "insights" on an almost daily basis. I picked Homan to win this event over a year ago; a narrow RR loss doesn't change anything. I still give an edge to Homan in the playoffs, but the top two teams are clearly class of this field this year. Haven't seen today's game yet but Miskew was hitting better in the Ontario final and if that kicks in again they'll be extremely tough come playoff time.

p.s. If J. Jones ever listened to you they would play like team Nova Scotia does, which is an older generation's strategy not necessarily good with the new rules. Your persistance on criticizing J. Jones strategy is comical at times.

PEI

Birt needs a new coach. Not only this game but other games she has continually made bad decisions. She has game but bad decision-making. U got to put pressure on NS, Arsenault has no draw game.

How many games has Birt had a chance to win but come up short?
