The US Mixed Doubles Championship has just concluded, with the team of John Shuster and Cory Christensen beating their own 4-person Vices, Vicki Persinger and Chris Plys.

This now creates a conflict though... Shuster’s full team has won US nationals and therefore has a slot in the last grand slam, the Champions Cup. The Mixed Worlds are on at the exact same time in Norway. So I wonder how this will be solved...

surprising that USCA let Shuster play with this scheduling conflict ahead of them. AFter all, HP Program got their womens' teams to withdraw from the US Open at Four Seasons because it conflicted with a practice session. On the other hand, who can ever predict what HP will do

The USCA is going to place a higher priority on the World Mixed Doubles than any Slam. Shuster is the face of US curling at the moment, so having the most prominent American curler in the MD Worlds can only be a benefit. So there really isn't any conflict here.

Also, let us not forget that Shuster has skipped Slams in the past. This isn't a big deal.

Team Shuster could still pickup a player to replace John and still hold their spot.
