New Team Kean

Well I cant find the thread I created for a mass discussion of new teams ill make this one:

Team kean's new line up is in:

Mark Kean
Matt Camm
David Mathers
Scott Howard

This team could be scary good and chemistry shouldn't be an issue since 3 of the 4 played juniors together.

With Mathers leaving Epping John will have to look for an entirely new line up. Wonder if any of Mark's old team will join with him

I guess we can rule out Scott playing for Dad Glenn this year as was rumoured in another forum..

Should be a great team and they are all dedicated to the game..

A great team based off name and individual talent alone
I always thought Mat would rejoin his jr teammates at some point, didn't take him long :p

Well, I think they will be great as well. I too wonder where Travis, Patrick and Tim will go though.

I agree with Misty1, this could be a scary good team. Mathers seems like he has a ton of potential, always thought him and Epping were the only elite curlers on those teams.

And from i've seen out of Matt Camm, he makes a lot of shots. He reminds me of John Epping in that he can win games by himself. Kean was already a top 15 team in Canada. It would not surprise me if this team wins its share of Briers/Grand Slams.

I don't see anyone in Ontario that can put a stop to the runaway train known as Team Jacobs!

Jacobs won't qualify for the Ontario provincials next year. Or the year after that. So they don't have to worry about him at provincials

Hard to believe Epping let David leave him. Didn't he realize he had one of the best players in Canada on his team. I have watched him play since juniors. Great future!

ahhhh Scott Bailey? Pretty great player compared to Mathers. I think the weak spot on this team is Kean. Always calls a couple of questionable shots a game, and doesn't listen to his guys.

Fanset who was his vice took Ontario to the finals at the 2008 Canadian junior championship and now kean has another vice Camm who skipped a Ontario team to a junior championship final. What did Kean do in his junior career? I know he never won Ontario. So why is he always the skip and seemingly more talented curlers are his vice..Probably because he is older. This team might need 2 years together before they are serious contenders to get to the Brier.

Exciting times on the shake up front.

So what the heck does Epping do?

Does Koe get Martin's front end?

Are any of the big three retiring?

Do Middaugh or Meade? Does Nedohin?

I saw Scott Pfeiffer was back in the Alberta provincials. Does he come back to full time competitive curling? Ending up with Martin. Now that would be a "Who woulda thunk it" moment of legendary proportions.

Do Johnny Mo and Cotter stay together?

Is Brett Laing headed to the Peg?

The off season may be more exciting than the actual curling.....lol.....

I was talking to Fanset on the weekend and asked him what he is doing next year. He is in discussions with Epping but would not go any deeper.

What will Rumfeldt do now that Howard is playing with Kean? Does he continue?

I don't think he's prepared to hang them up quite yet, especially when he seets 52 yr old Howard, 51 yr old Stoughton, etc. still fighting out there and winning much more often than not.

Ignoring the obvious travel and practice problems here's the guys I think K-Mart will target:

1. Brock Virtue
2. Mike McEwen
3. Wayne Middaugh
4. Jonathan Mead (if Stoughton hangs it up)
5. Martin "moving" to Nfld. to skip Brad Gushue (auto-berth to Brier; Goo always puts on a show at Briers but usually runs outta gas near the end, with Martin skipping he might go nuts!)

Brock is a part of one of the best young teams out there. I don't think he's going anywhere especially when you consider that he would take a ton of heat for switching back to alberta.

jonathan mead has stated several times he can only imagine curling at this level with jeff anymore. Once jeff retires he will too

I could see kevin taking charge of a younger alberta team. Perhaps the Brendan bottcher rink and mentoring them for a couple years

You have suggested some pretty far fetched scenarios in the past but this one takes the cake. And Im still waiting for any of your proposed player movememts to come true

Gushue is far too self-centred to vice for anyone now. Have to ? Team chemistry when he changes players as often has his socks.

That's very interesting. A very formidable combination that also disrupts four Top 20 Ontario teams (Kean, Cochrane, Epping and Rumfeldt). They should do well together.

Looks like the remaining three team kean guys have Chad Allen at vice for the next slam.

Is that because Wayne Tuck's team didn't qualify or is it permanent?
