Alina just turned 26 years old.. she has quite the Curling CV..

2010- Silver - European Mixed Curling Championship (Lead for Claudio Pätz)
2011 -Gold- World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship (with Sven Michel).
2012- Gold - Worlds with Ott
2013 -Bronze European Curling Championships.
2014- Olympics appearance
2015 -Gold - World Women's Curling Championship defeating Canada's Jennifer Jones in the final...

Mixed doubles doesn't count.
Being the 5th on a successful team doesn't count.
Bronze at European, maybe.
A world championship, yes.
She is going to have to do a bit more winning.

Paetz..THREE world titles.

Guido- Being from Winnipeg your diminishing comment is same old...

Paetz is 17 years younger that Jones..
won a World title 10 years younger than Jones got her ONE at 34 ...(thats a "one off"}..
Paetz is just learning how to skip...she hasnt exactly had a lot of help yet this season.. from Lehmann..

Done worry Paetz will win a lot more ...keep watching..

SWISS W Teams..nice post ..ML

my POV is Feltscher is the strongest "finisher" of the
Top Three...Tirinzoni is still Number 3 because of inconsistencies

Alina Paetz is hard to read right now as she's not blazing any trails..
She only started skipping in 2013..so has a lot more dues to pay to stay a serious threat..
The Euro Teams are just now joining the GSOC ..serious payoffs..and they have LOT to deal with in adapting to endless hotels..travel, away from familiar food....etc..

2. Tirinzoni - obviously the most fluid swiss team going. Tons of experience but not that old either. The quandary is she's never repped a team at the worlds despite great cash spiel performances.

3. Feltscher - the steadiest plodders. Taken over the "Plodder" mantle previously held by Sigfriddson before they replaced their uneven 4th stone shooter.

Love to see how Silvana T would fare at a worlds but she has to supplant Paetz & Feltscher - even a couple more excellent squads emerging out of the swiss program.

legend, what in the hell are you talking about she's never been to worlds? she has repped switzerland 3 times.

in 2006 where she went 3-8 and finished 10th
in 2007 where she went 6-5 and finished 5th
in 2013 where she finished 7-6 and finished 5th

she's never skipped at a euros but was the alternate in 2007

as far as ranking swiss teams there's no doubt feltscher is the strongest of the 3. she has one of the best swiss teams of all time. id rank her 2nd behind only mirjam ott

second is tirinzoni. she has a glittering cash resume but, as i've posted above her international resume is pretty poor, aside from a junior gold in 1999 she's done nothing. she has her strongest team with her she's ever had now and i bet she'd finally crack the podium if she got to worlds but thats a tough ask.

paetz is a third behind those 2 and the distance is growing

alina has not only those 2 to worry about but there are a number of good young teams coming in switzerland. the best of them skipped by elena stern

michele jaggi would have made things interesting as another top swiss team but it looks like she's done. shame, as i would have liked to see how she matured.

M.L. Swiss teams have 'incredible on-ice demeanour'? No, it's just about the same as a few thousand other Canadian teams!

Saying Jones is a "one off"is ignorant at best. Winning Manitoba 12 years or so in a row, repping Canada 5 or so years at worlds and winning Oly gold. With several different teams.Compared to Paetz's One world champ. Hmmmmm
So far Paetz is a one off, but like you say she may improve on that.
By the way, I am hoping that Jones' world championship is her last time to have a chance at it. There are so many great Canadian teams right now.
Oh, and by the way, I didn't mention Jones in my post. It may surprize you, but just being from Winnipeg does not automatically make for a Jones fan.

It actually is factual..
Jones has still won only ONE world title out of 5 tries ( 20%)
Agree with ML that Jones /Team are still a super threat in the Women's game
They were the first W. Team to have the time/money to complete so much that they reached a level of consistency that is yet to be matched....

Alina Paetz at 24 already had three world titles...
I hope she loves curling enough to take her talent to the Top..
