Saskatchewan Scotties

Hey!
Breanne Meakin is in Regina now and has a pretty impressive line up with her. She meets Jolene Campbell next and is near qualifying. Unlike what ML sez about there not being much coming down the pipe in the SK women's scene, I beg to differ. This will be a good matchup.

and indeed - Meakin wins it. Up against Martin to qualify for provincials. I am looking forward to some good live coverage, as always, from SaskCurl.

there are some good teams coming in saskatchewan like campbell and meakin but there are no great ones. no one to take the place for saskatchewan that lawton, anderson and holland for saskatchewan for so long

That's exactly it. SK has a lot of potential and lots of sharp shooters, but no team is willing to commit to the schedule necessary to become an elite team. Most teams are only playing limited schedules and only rarely leaving the province.

I hope we see some young SK teams put in the effort for the next olympic cycle (no SK team will qualify for this year's trials on the women's side).

On a side note - I have a feeling that if Lawton doesn't pick up a qualifying spot this weekend we might see her step away from the game.

I guess nothing short of a national Scotties win could get an up-and-comer team to the pre-trials. But, these young teams need to have dreams. It might all start here.

SK will have a new rep this year at the national scotties as Jolene Campbell got TKO'd at the last chance qualifier.

thats a stunner. wow. what a disappointing result for them

again on the topic of elite level teams coming from saskatchewan..i thought for a while that trish paulsen would be that new face of elite curling for the province but she's disappeared now after parting ways with lawton.

i know its early, they are still juniors but perhaps the kaitlyn jones rink that won juniors will progress and be that team. read an article about them and they all seem to have that desire.

Well, Ms Lawton got her birth to the Prov SKscotties this morning. One more spot up for grabs. Long haul for these four teams. Two more games today. Am cheering on Meakin.

So.. Martin Lawton and Selzer got the 3 lastChance spots for SKscotties. Selzer is 3 sisters? - same name anyway. Could be chemistry there.
