Had a couple half points locked in but got greedy (and foolish) with that goofy missed takeout in the 7th end. Still capable of making that big upsetter shot at times but missing far too many basic shots - calling wrong ice for her girls and assertively sabotaging line calls against whoever's on the tee.

Luckily North Am got a sweep last night cuz Rachel Homan started to power up, Koe was Koe and Hapless John (Shuster) managed to snatch an unexpected win.

Jones may still be key to N. Am taking the duke in today's match play - but based on Jones 2018-19 play I would expect her to either be eaten alive by her opponent - or scrounging up insufficient points to make the difference!

You know this great entertainment. Fun, different format. You two posts are all Jones bashing, why is that?

Really, no need - we have seen you bash her so often, we know what you think.

Couple selfish decisions that deprived her team of 1/2 a point in 2 different situations. Not just the shot-making & line-calling - but selfish actions, not calling timeouts, getting Jeffro Stoughton involved.

Homan was almost as miserable as Jones shot-wise, Rachel was 11th, Jones was 12th

but Rachel came off the canvass to devour an opponent last nite in the final draw before skins. . . . . I'll bet dollars to donuts she provides more points to North American in the skins games than JJ.

JJ is full of excuses and apologies at this point - but make no mistake - her entire season, possibly her career rest on her outcome at the STOH - thats all she's invested in immo - nothing else matters.

If she doesn't make tie-break or playoffs I have a sinking feeling she'll call it a day.

If she advances past tie-breakers my opinion is she'll keep playing!

ok, wrong word - bashing. But it is the same thing year after year. I remember last year how you said she was done. hmmm, she goes on to win the Worlds.

You never mentioned any of the others in your first post, only Jones. You could have easily commented on Homan, but nope - Jones.

Anyway, I have read enough of your posts to know what they will be about. Then she comes out and wins something big.......

enjoy the curling!

I really like that TSN is showing the lead stones during commercial breaks. Big improvement.

Everyone looks rusty (or is it the ice?). Nevertheless, I enjoy the format. It doesn't feel stale to me, especially since the ultimate outcome might finally be different.

Russ is as good as ever (ex-AAAAAACT-ly!). Cheryl and Russ actually disagreed for once, and I enjoyed it. The TSN curling coverage feels so much better than the Sportsnet coverage.

While I’ve been watching the curling, aside from this being an all expense paid getaway for the qualifying teams, there is nothing in it for them personally or a team. The big picture team aspect is part of their entertainment experience. Plus, since the world has not won since 2012, they are due for a turn at winning.

I agree, love watching it for the team spirit, how everyone is a little looser.

Great tournament before all the provincial's and serious curling starts.

What a crazy finish.
Everyone here thought it’d be over within minutes of it starting, but it wound up taking all the way to the 8th end to finish, with the audience not quite believing that none of the World teams could seem to get anything going as North America kept defending so well, especially Team Homan, I thought...and then finally Eve Muirhead generates a shot for her team to win the needed points...and even then it seemed to take extra long for everyone to realize she’d scored. Wow. So happy for her after everything she went though in 2018.

For the most part very entertaining. I would suggest more doubles and less mixed doubles. Seemed like the first 2 days that's all the played

Playing amongst your peers when part of a larger team seems to bring out the pressure for the players. Even though this is an entertainment event pride still drives performance. I love the event although I would prefer to see more mixed/scrabble events and no doubles. I would also like to see that all the players have to play the same amount of games. Skills/hotshot type of competition should replace doubles. Not going to happen, but, that’s my preference.

I too would have have liked to have seen more Mixed Team Scrambles, I really feel we missed out on some interesting combinations that could have been

Was rooting for Team North America but was proud of their ferocious claw back.

Edit: Gerry, please get someone to help the forum!

It was great to see the last draw of the event become more interesting than it probably should have. Team World only scored 1/2 point in the first 21 ends when you combine all three games! You can't convince me that the curlers don't feel pressure in this event. We were there 3 years ago (that was the one where Johnny Mo made a great shot near the end to clinch it for Team NA.) and the atmosphere was quite intense.

I would like others have 2 fewer mixed doubles draws and make them either a Mixed Scramble or regular Team event. For this year some curlers would not even play on a particular day which does not seem right.

The guy from the Game of Stones podcast said he’d heard that it wouldn’t be back in Vegas next year. He also pointed out that the Canadian-US $ exchange rate is not nearly as favorable now as in earlier years, That together with other factors already mentioned probably put a dent in the attendance this time, and would make them reluctant to commit to Vegas next year.

On another topic, what did you all think of the way the timing rules were modified again since the Canada Cup debacle? I thought they got it more or less right this time, and I only saw one clock malfunction all weekend this time.
