This whole world cup thing is weird. Why would Jones get the spot with half her team?

You have to remember that the whole World Cup curling is just exhibition games that try and evoke some sort of international “real” competiition. Teams are picked for marketing purposes or experience on the international stage. They are not designed to send the best teams. So, relax, and enjoy the sideshow that it is.

On paper this is an exceptional grouping - however Officer is playing out of line while Birchard was Jones' substitute 3rd on last year's gold-medal winning team.

Kaitlyn, coming off injuries and physio had perhaps her worst national event in her storied career. Birchard attended the event for Team Einarson but Einarson was awful during the play-in and were taken out by Casey Scheidegger. Jill played a few ends for a totally out of sorts Jones who failed to qualify for playoffs for the first time in 14 trips to the well.

You can say all you want about this team - and I say a lot - but if Jones is the Jones we saw at the Scotties - this team, any team skipped by Jones has no chance whatsoever.

That said, even an often erratic JJ will be more interesting to watch on TV than the stoic & fairly conservative Homan four!

I can't see Joss having enough of curling. I heard that Dawn is pregnant. However, watching Jones' last game at the Scotties, Kaitlyn got a big hug and an apology, Joss a quick side hug...weird that JJ wouldn't take her along.

It's odd that they wouldn't mention why Dawn and Jocelyn won't be there. This will just fuel speculation, which (unless there's something to it) could have been avoided.

Likely it's because it's May and likely not too many feel up to curling past April.

Yes these are people with responsibilities and obligations besides being a curler. However, it is more fun for some to hope their is something sinister to it. And they feel they should be updated on any personal decisions these curlers make.

S. Birchard must have jumped at the chance to hang around Kaitlyn, Jill Y JJ - if there's any doubt about Joss - no better player available than Birchard.

JJ might have put on a bit of a beg act to get Jill to come aboard, who knows?

You actually have the gall to question an individual about making an announcement as to whether they are, or aren't, expecting a child?

How about it's none of anyone's damn business whether someone is pregnant or not. Regardless of what they do in life, sport or career they have a right to privacy and you, sir, have no right to demand otherwise. And she certainly has zero obligation to any fans to divulge details of her personal and private life.

Additionally your idea of what a 'mediocre' curling season is plus insinuating that Jones would have to beg someone to play only shows, once again, how totally ignorant you are when it comes to not only sports, but women in general.

When Jill retired, she stated very clearly her reasons. No speculation. Social Media was quiet except for congratulatory messages to Jill.

It was in Social Media that Dawn was pregnant and everyone and not just here has been wondering about Jocelyn Peterman's status.

Couldn't pick a better curler to replace Homan.
Hi everyone! This is my first post. I'm a big curling fan from the USA. But I'm a big fan of Team Homan! Hope they come back strong next season after Rach and Jo become new mommies :)
