Betty Duguid

I see a brief obituary in todays Free Press

1967 Womens curling Champion Betty Duguid (skip) passed

third Joan Ingram, second Lawrie Bradawaski, and Lead Dot Rose.

Pretty sure she married Gerry Duguid , (Dons brother ) - of the stoggy and unique sliding foot forward delivery -

My wife wife curled in playdowns with Betty for years in the Golden Girls playdowns

Think she won a car at Charlewood C C where we had dinner last night .

One of the first great women curlers .

ML - details pls

Chicago Tribune obit had this:

"[Betty] and husband Gerry came to Wilmette to open and run the Curtis Curling Center in 1967. After that Mom worked with the Wilmette Park District in many capacities culminating as Lakefront Manager her dream job."

My parents always talked about the Dar Curtis curling center in Wilmette which opened in the late 60s. They mentioned Betty several times as sort of an "all star" in-house pro who helped many people learn the sport during the few years that the Curtis Center operated.

I remember she also did ice at North Shore Curling Club in Illinois (now torn down).
