Olympic Men's

Starts Wednesday (well, in US time at least, I think in Korea it actually happened like a week and a half ago...I never have gotten the hang of the Date Line...).

Will this be the year Shuster gains Olympic Glory?

How will Hamilton shake off a questionable performance in Mixed?

Will we actually see a single Lead Stone Delivery during the entire tournament?

I definitely think so. He's hungry, the team is hungry, and they've had success on the world stage. I think they have the right mix of skills, team chemistry, and attitude to bring home some hardware. I have them pegged for Bronze.

I think he'll shake it off just fine. Matt comes off as a pretty laid-back guy, and he seems to take on the role of team "cheerleader", keeping their spirits up when they're struggling...I have no doubt he'll do the same for himself.

On TV? Not a chance. Not only are almost all of the matches tape-delayed, they're also cut down to two-hour time slots. I expect heavy editing for sure.

2-2 after 4...which is good for a tie for 3rd at the moment.

This is a *weird* event...aside from two very obvious class teams, everyone else seems like who beats who is a spin of the wheel. Shuster could be in the Bronze game, or they could end up 10th.

Should be good for ratings, which is really all NBC, and transitorily the USOC and USCA really care about...but a medal round showing would be lovely.

On the plus side, Shuster's been in weirdspiels before, and seems to come through.

annnnnnnnd once again, the USA falls flat on their faces.

As to TV ratings, don't get too comfortable. In time, audiences can be rather fickle.

If USA curling is deemed a "joke" meme like handball, then it's lights out.

We've gone an entire generation with not that much to show for except a few distant world medals and a lone Olympic bronze 12 years ago.

We are the Cleveland Browns of curling.

Tiny Norway is the superior country when it comes to almost all winter athletics - AMAZING.

Not surprising Canada is ahead of USA in medal count - even though Canada is barely 36 million compared to 360 million in U.S.

Actually when you take into account the winter aspect - and big money Canadian govt. now pouring into sports - the differential should be more - but its brought down to negligible cuz America has 10x the population - and a few truly winter states (Colorado, Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Dakotas, Minnesota, Ohio, etc.)

While Canada can't hold a candle to tiny Norway in winter athletics it would be a travesty if The Big Ugly caught or exceeded us in total medal count!

I would not be so hard on team USA.

Like Canada they are victims of tv induced crappy system.

A total sell out to tv creating 8 minute breaks between ends - if that doesnt ruin momentum nothing will ..

The USA quality of play has been improving for years ... pretty sure that the team you picked was your best and they have played very well - even though the morons that sanded the rock bottoms half way through the event last night should be kicked in the fannys for doing an unmatched job

watched ulsrud v shuster game - pretty obvious that different rocks on the same path curled differently - even with the same weight ...

to save whining on another post , the camera work is getting worse ... the shots from the cornor by the hack are useless

the few overheads seldom show the hogline or back line ( cant see guards or rocks in back of house ) and are not on long enough for a viewer to think - as mentioned before the closeups looking for a tear or a swear. are useless ( the exception being mike measles - looked like he had a fire in face and they tried to put it out with an icepick ) - im guessing it had an unsettling affect on crothers team - like dancing in hawaii with the lepers .

worst is the ten second closeup of a draw with no perspective - might as well be listening to the radio or watching the curling geek
