Players Final

Seriously after that end what can you say other than WTF? I had thought that the first end of McEwen v Epping was the best first end I've ever seen. And then they do that? This is crazy good. A new level has been established.

Six ends later the level is solidified. Aka. Not an anomoly but instead the new standard. Wow. The differentiation between this level and club level has become unbridegeable.

This last game could have gone either way. Two fabulous teams. Mike has had an outstanding year. Jacobs has done well placing but not finishing. Until today. Last game of the season and he has a bit of cash in his pocket.

Congrats to both teams. You played well and kept me on the edge of my seat all game. Those blank ends were not boring, but a testament to the skills of all players.

Phew. Its over.

Til next season

Strange game curling. If Middaugh makes a t-line draw in his semi-final Jacobs don't get three and ain't in the final. And then in the final Team McEwen has control the whole way. And then they oversweep the final draw to lose a game they were in control of the whole way.

To my mind this is a positive development and a further vindication of the five rock role.

I.e. With the five rock rule you can like Jacobs score three in the last end to win.

Also. With the five rock rule the two best teams in the world go at it toe to toe with huge percentages and after 7 ends the score is still three to three.

What that tells me is A) You can defend the 5 rock rule and B) You can come back if the other team ain't perfect.

Yes, and the percentages were neck and neck pretty well throughout the game

Wow. What a stupid post. These kids CAME from the club level. That's where we ALL start. All you a holes need to stop insulting club curlers. If it wasn't for clubs they'd be nothing. And, for the record, if there were juiced rocks in every club in Canada like those on the tube, you'd see these same shots in your men's league.

Dear Jamcan

I am a club curler. I love my club. In fact my club has an absolutely fabulous club championship event which starts tonight which my team will be competing in.

So you have misunderstood my post. I don't insult club players generally and did not specifically in this case either.

For years I got to play and watch Team Middaugh and Team Harris up close and personal as they were in our zone. Tough zone.

Even then the times that they would get upset by a club team were few and far between but they happened.

All I was saying is it seems to me that the level at the highest end of our game. Most especially McEwen and Jacobs is a new order of magnitude better than we've ever seen before.

The post was about appreciating their talent not to insult anyone.
