Sorry, have been out of the loop for a couple days. Can somebody briefly summarize what happened this year with team USA and which game it occurred in?

In fact it was very clear which rock was shot. Watch the video and you will see one of Canadian front end guys pulling off his glove to shake hands with the victorious US team.

AS opposed to Shuster last year, who also applied the rulebook accordingly...where he put the shot was *completely* within the bounds of where it could reasonably have been expected to end up.

IN short....the point is made...Canadians walk on water, everyone else walks on fire...got it...and noted...go back to your bridge, mmmkay?

Actually that is not what he did and the rule that was applied was never provided. I even asked a friend that was umpiring at that event and she would not comment. Of course I'm sure you can cite.the rule now that you brought it up.

If there is any bias here, it is clearly from either Americans, or U.S. sympathizers.
Comparing the controversies that the same U.S. team have found themselves in 2 years in succession at the most important curling tournament in the world to something which happened decades ago is a very desperate act.

Complaining that we Canadians aren't objecting now to this decades old incident, and we're only complaining about the current American incidents is well, well beyond incredibly silly.

Shuster applied the ruling he was given by the chief umpire (edit: or maybe it was the on-ice supervisor). I can understand that you might not agree with the ruling but why do you blame Shuster for that?

Once again, well said. You are being logical. It seems to be a tough sell. Well the 4th place team played very poorly today. No illogical argument can say otherwise. Of course unless you insist that the score was biased against the 4th place team?

Congratulations Team Switzerland a very well played solid game.

swiss played a talented game against the U.S. They have a good shot vs Sweden, but it will be close. I call that one at 50/50. Ultimately each is playing only for a silver medal as Gushue is assured winning the final with last rock and how they have played this week.

I guess you have forgotten how Shuster begged and pleaded like a pre-teen, and then shut down George when he suggested the outcome may have been different???? Good to see them in the 2nd best loser game.

It's been a while but my recollection is that Tyler said "I don't know where it would've ended up" but that he never said that it might have gone out.

The Big Country to the south. The Big Curling Country to the north. It seems USA feels toward Canada, with curling the way we feel toward USA with almost everything else. It is the same with Scotland and England in some respects. Shuster is a chatty curler. We have seen these kinds of champions through the decades. George is a veteran too. Years ago (many) the first time I watched the USA at the worlds, live - wpg, I think - I sensed that the team was loud, kind of macho, like a college football team and that they didn't "get" our game. Every country brings its own flavour to the rink. The USA did well this year. I see this team as unconventional. But they will be curling for Bronze, and despite their rather clumsy, in my opinion, demeanor, I hope they get their medal. They have an unconventional charm, as opposed to the Euro slick. It is lose-lose when it comes to in infraction calls. Today in the McEwen/Mcewen Laing/Jones game, there was a call. As usual, Jones got her way. (nod nod wink wink).

thats a pretty stupid thing to say. they are the favorites, yes but nothing here is for sure.

i hope for switzerland to make the final. they gave canada their best test of the week and i think would be the best final. plus id like to see some different match ups in the medal games

i also still hope switzerland can pull out the win. been since 1992 that they've won the mens worlds

Honestly, not saying this to be mean but the 3vs 4 game featured two teams that would struggle to go above .500 at the Brier. Anything can happen in a one game elimination game but Canada vs. Sweden is the final I want to see. The two best teams all week in the gold medal game.

As for the Tyler George thing it was dumb brain fart but he apologized after he was told what he did. Move on. I think in last year's Brier Marc Kennedy swept a Rock before the T-line , he realized it right away, apologized, and we moved on.

Tyler didn't realize he had done it until he saw the pic on twitter and felt bad about it. Apparently no else noticed it either when it happened. You all act like he did it intentionally. Anyone who has played back end has done this by mistake at least once. To quote a biblical curling passage, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

I don't agree that he shut Tyler down. Since Tyler didn't know where the rock would've ended up, John made the call.

Not only do you call someone "an idiot" within days of your joining this forum, but you're so immensely proud of your insulting behaviour that you quote yourself.

Do everyone a favour and go away.

I had assumed that contributors to this forum were curling enthusiasts and fans, however, given the posts I'm wondering if anybody is watching and enjoying the curling.

no, its stupid because ist stupid. nothing is assured. if it was there'd be no point in even playing the game.

i dont expect sweden to win today and im sure most people dont but you never know what can happen in a one game scenario .

Correct, anything can happen in a curling game. Sweden looked good last night, it should be a good game today.

But I have to say, the quality of the games surprised me, I think Canada was only taken to 10 ends twice...all the other games after 7 or even 6. They all seemed go into club curler mode against them.

ill agree there. it was very odd this year. they cant be blamed for missing hard shots. but i saw teams make more misses on simple shots like hit and stay or draw the 4 foot with a clear path than i ever have. i dont know if it was the ice or what the hell was going on but it was weird.

if i recall switzerland is the only team that brad had to throw his last rock against. every other game was over early
