Is there any streaming coverage for the Manitoba Scotties this week?

Scotties end in BC on the 4th. Mixed doubles start on the 8th. It is a tight window, but even if she plays in the final, she would be able to arrive on the 6th. Now is it too tight to do it that way?

Watching a not very good game for the Ontario STOH...wish they had the ability to switch to a better game like Inglis vs Harrison.

I think it would be...a long flight to Korea. Coach Jeff will want Katelyn well rested before her Olympics with John.

Ontario looks like fun

Seems like Middaugh, Tippin, Flaxey and Harrison are all gone.
Auld vs Inglis in 1v2, Duncan vs Heggestad in 3v4. Have any of them won before? Doesn't look like it. I guess there will be first time rep out of Ontario.

Definitely! None of them have won Ontario but Duncan did win the Juniors once I think. Surprised at the others dropping so quickly especially Middaugh.

In Quebec , Bélisle is in the final. Larouche is in the semis where she waits the winner of the tiebreaker between Roxane Perron and Émilia Gagné that is being played right now.

Does anybody know the cut off date for CTRS points for the two highest non qualified teams to be in the last chance play-in game? Maybe after next week's grand slam ?

The team that won Quebec (Emilia Gagne) is a completely new one to me. Does anyone know anything about them? She knocked off both Larouche and Belisle to win.

Gagne is a junior team that lost the Quebec Junior Finals to St. George this year.

What happened is there were only 5 senior teams that entered the playdowns. Curling Quebec invited 3 junior teams to fill the field set at 8. Gagné went 2-4 and finished 3rd out of 5 teams.
Gagné won Québec juniors last year as a second for Camille Boisvert.

According to Gagné, the big difference was in the eight end, she was looking at 4 without hammer on her last and she made the perfect freeze that forced Bélisle to take one.

I am mostly going off the article below.

So the seedings and Pools have been announced. Wild card is Carey vs Einarson and gets the #4 seed and is known as WC in the draw table. All other seeds are done on CTRS points as of today.

http://www.curling.ca/blog/2018/01/...s-in-penticton/

http://www.curling.ca/2018scotties/...Hearts-Draw.pdf

Hope everybody is happy the Yukon and Nunavut will get their seven games in and then go home along with six other teams halfway through the Scotties at the end of play Wednesday. This format stinks for Nationals.

Pool A

(teams listed according to seeding)

1. Manitoba, Jennifer Jones (TBC, Jill Officer, Dawn McEwen; Winnipeg)
4. Team Wild Card
5. Northern Ontario, Tracy Fleury (Crystal Webster, Jenna Walsh, Amanda Gates; Sudbury)
8. Nova Scotia, Mary-Anne Arsenault (Christina Black, Jennifer Baxter, Jennifer Crouse; Halifax)
9. Saskatchewan, Sherry Anderson (Kourtney Fesser, Krista Fesser, Karlee Korchinski; Saskatoon)
12. New Brunswick, Sylvie Robichaud (Melissa Adams, Nicole Bishop, Kendra Lister; Moncton)
13. Northwest Territories, Kerry Galusha (Sarah Koltun, Megan Koehler, Shona Barbour; Yellowknife)
16. Yukon Territory, Chelsea Duncan (Jenna Duncan, Kara Price, Jody Smallwood; Whitehorse)

Pool B

(teams listed according to seeding)

2. Alberta, Casey Scheidegger (Cary-Anne McTaggart, Jessie Scheidegger, Kristie Moore; Lethbridge)
3. Team Canada, Michelle Englot (Kate Cameron, Leslie Wilson, Raunora Westcott; Winnipeg)
6. Ontario, Holly Duncan (Stephanie LeDrew, Cheryl Kreviazuk, Karen Sagle; Toronto)
7. British Columbia, Kesa Van Osch (Marika Van Osch, Kalia Van Osch, Amy Gibson; Nanaimo)
10. Newfoundland/Labrador, Stacie Curtis (Erin Porter, Julie Devereaux, Erica Trickett; St. John’s)
11. Prince Edward Island, Robyn MacPhee (Sarah Fullerton, Meaghan Hughes, Michelle McQuaid; Charlottetown)
14. Quebec, Émilia Gagné (Mélina Perron, Marie-Pier Harvey, Chloé Arnaud; Alma)
15. Nunavut, Amie Shackleton (Geneva Chislett, Denise Hutchings, Robyn Mackey; Iqaluit)

okay, so, seeing the pools i'll say out of pool A will be manitoba, wild card, northern ontario and northwest territories. Out of pool B will be alberta, british columbia , canada and newfoundland

A is harder to call . i;m flip flopping between saskatchewan and northwest territories

gonna stick with my final 4 of manitoba, alberta, northern ontario and ctrs team

Old math

Looking at the CTRS standings and the seedings of these teams, how is it possible the wild card team is ranked 4th. Both Carey and Einarson are 2nd and 4th in the CTRS 100 points ahead of Scheidegger who's ranked 2nd and over 150 points ahead of Englot ranked 3rd. Who and how did they come to this decision?

I would assume its based on who you lost to or beat in the provincial playdowns. CTRS points should only count to get the 2 qualifiers. The rest of the rankings should be based on playdowns as that is the only way to get straight to the Scotties.

BUT, they used CTRS for all rankings. What gives. "They" whoever they are made a mistake based on their own admission of using CTRS points to seed ALL the teams. Somebody needs to go back to grade 3 or Sesame Street where one of these things is not like the other. "They" never come out and say exactly who, how, and why their decisions are made. Especially when they're wrong.

Again, just bad math skills.

The WC is seeded fourth regardless of their actual seed. Assuming this is done so they can have an actual schedule drawn up before hand so spectators can plan their ticket purchases accordingly. If they did this after the actual play in game it would be tough on people attending draws for their favorite team . Many people buy single game tickets accordingly.

Maybe so, but both wild card teams are ranked much higher, and the official draw with the actual team listings and pools were released TODAY! TODAY!

If you tried to buy tickets before TODAY it said draw TBA.

These CTRS points go back to Dec 31st. Why then the discrepancy? Again begs the same question, who why and how did they come up with this? How can number 2 be ranked 4th when the draw was released TODAY?

Does CC ever do the sensible thing? They are a top heavy organization with 5 times as many staff as they had just a few years ago and still cannot get their national championships right,
