Kennedy playing 3rd for Martin and Nedohin playing 2nd. Any explanation given?

Kennedy is a better curler.

He's also getting some practice in as vice to prepare for his new role on Team Koe.

Is that a guess or has someone on Team Martin said that? Not sure why Martin would worry about his second getting practice now for playing third next season.

players

What a game that must have been! Team Edin 96% - Team Stoughton 94% and Fredrik Lindberg played 100%!

btw is the tournament available for free online somewhere?

Martin isn't worried about that. He has Marc playing third because he's better than Dave. An ancillary benefit of the swap is it gives Marc some practice for next year. Simple stuff.

Shot percentages

I'm guessing from the numbers in the Edin game and the Gushue v Howard game that the ice must be phenomenal.

Team Howard v Team Gushue: 90% to 91%.

The score on the other is not quite as close. Team Gushue 5 Team Howard 1. Brad is beating Glenn by 12%, 93% to 82%. And I'm guessing that Glenn's 1.5 misses both come on his last rock and so went straight on to the scoreboard. The curse of skipping.

Team Gushue

They are playing really well so far this week. Will Gushue really shake this team up with Nichols planned return to the rock?

From the Summerside Journal Pioneer:

"Martin explained the move: “With the five-rock rule, it seems to me the seconds play a whole lot more come-around draw shots, the thirds now play more hits and run-backs.

“Dave is really good at the draw and tapping stuff, Marc is really good at the hitting and the five-rock rule seems to make sense to switch them."

Gerry,

I can't find the standings anywhere for the end of season bonus. Do you know where this can be found or what the standings are? Would be interesting to know all the different possibilities.

Thumbs down

I guess Mccusker and Sportsnet didn't get the memo about Stoughton's new team. Smooth move, not.

Kmart goes out a champion.

The ole Bear was not to be denied today. He had one of those games where he just wasn't gonna be beat no matter what the other team did.

Marc Kennedy also showed today that he will instantly be one of the top thirds in the country. No surprise to those who've followed him over his career.

It was also nice to see how many people were glad to see Kevin go out this way. Even Team Jacobs. They of course would rather have won but like most curlers they understand how much Kevin has brought to the game and the WCT, and so on that level at least they were genuinely happy for him. It probably didn't hurt their happiness level that this was also the last time they have to worry about him....lol....

Great way for Kevin to go out. 98% in the last game of his career and to win his 18th Grand Slam.

Talking

Did they play a 5 rock FGZ in this event as Martin implies? What was the general feedback from the players - didn't seem from the scores like it added much offense?

And cool way for Martin to slide into the sunset - nice performance!
