Silvana Tirinzoni, just another great Swiss rink carving up supposed international powerhouses like Ott did a couple years back, like Bini Feltscher did to Homan at recent worlds and now Silvana carving up last year's world champ and one of the great shooters of the game - Muirhead!

Today was also a day where some new teams test drove new teams.

Chelsea Carey unfortunately got drawn against unbeaten Muirhead in her quarter final - with Muirhead squashing the new Alberta top skip (minus Courtney).

Meanwhile - Val Sweeting, battling for pride and with a virtual baby third (Steph Baier from BC) won her quarter final before a confrontation with Tirinzoni in the semi.

Sweeting put up a fine and furious battle before succumbing to Silvana on last rock.

Did both squads (Carey & Sweeting) get what they wanted out of this event?

Carey made playoffs in a fawn fest. Got TKO'd in first playoff game going down easy to the Princess.

Tirinzoni continued to show that she's more than a top glamour curler. Squeezing out Sweeting in a barnburner and now shellacking the life outta Muirhead.

Tirinzoni certainly sets herself up as a big huge future threat for Homan, Jones, Sweeting, etc.

Middaugh made playoffs. I think she finally demoted Jo Rizzo down to front end.

Crystal Webster won 1 game. She's obviously NOT a force to be reckoned with in future Alberta curling.

please tirinzoni has done nothing here. she's always been great on the cash tour but faltered at larger events.

Can't you ever give credit where it is due? This is also what you had been saying about Feltscher too. Not easy to win out of Switzerland. Not easy to medal at the worlds. Doesn't mean they are not a great team.
