Even the mega-super stars (like Rachel) feel the pressure when the stakes are ratcheted up.

Shot a rocket thru the house on a basic draw for 2 in the 2nd.

Fortuntely, Margie Fomina appears ready to assist Canada - not her home country!

And now Emma starts a crash course - in crashing!

Nice win as Rachel Homan's Canadian side slide into the gold medal world game.

Bit of a shaky start for Rachel - passing one thru the rings but other-wise they turned into vicious killers and stifled anything Russia had to offer.

Too bad TSN doesn't have the budget to at least have a post-game chat via telephone w/ the winning skip or someone from the squad!

At least Mr. Gray got Rachel to do a little post-game chat.

Watch out for Eve Muirhead - the Scottish lassie will somehow find a way to turn the swedes into meatballs.

Before today's game I had the odds of gold as follows:

Canada - 56%
Scotland - 29%
Sweden - 8%
Russia - 7%

Sidorova was out curled by Homan and company

so it was nothing like the previous game that went to extra end , I think either Sidorova played poorly or she was out smarted by strategy from Homan ? one thing is certain they will have to curl alot better if they want to beat either Scotland or Sweden in three four game full marks for Team Canada , rest up for that gold medal game , WE SHALL SEE

Finally a team with a killer instinct. I was concerned about them at the beginning of the season, but you are all right - its all about peaking at the right time.

Sorry ML, but I think Homan will surpass JJ and should be favoured to win the trials next year.

Like Rachel said in her post-game snap-chat with Logan - there's always a chance you can lose any give game. Now, she's locked & loaded for the golden game...

Really impressed by Emma Miskew imposing her leadership early in the game - Rachel & the front end abided by her decision(s) and the team was served well.

Homan is just that much technically superior to any team in this field. Anyone calling this a joke field would be wrong. I'll tell you why - lets put some of the top teams who didn't make it here and insert them into the field. Here's how I'd think they'd finish:

1. Jennifer Jones - wouldn't make playoffs this year; mainly because Jones & Officer are showing pronounced deterioration - might go 6-5 or outside shot at 7-4

2. Val Sweeting - more consistent than Team JJ but like Sweden the skip isn't a killer. Plus .500 - but only outside shot at playoffs.

3. Chelsea Carey - wouldn't make playoffs in this field - too much strife within team; Carey also too erratic which is the one thing Rachel Homan isn't.

4. Kerri Einarson - 4-7 or 5-6

5. Michelle Englot - would make playoffs 2nd, perhaps 3rd or 4th. Doesn't have the persistent excellence of execution of Homan which would cost her some losses. Might be good enough to even squeeze into the semi-final

6. Sherri Middaugh - no better than 4-7

7. Kris McCarville - no better than 6-5

8. Casey Schiedegger - no better than 6-5

9. Kerry Koe - no better than 3-8

10. Tracey Horgan - no better than 5-6

Homan is clearly the class of this field - BUT in a 1-game showdown vs. a lochness curling monster like Eve Muirhead she could easily realize devastation. I'd one rate Rachel 55/45 to TKO Eve in a potential final - the final I now see. Eve will use her two big weapons - the TRIPLE & THE ANGLE/WEDGE SIDE FREEZE to stifle the Canadian side . . . . then see where the chips may fall.

No need to apologize - I quite agree. Old Jenny might not even be 2nd favourite after Rachel takes the #1 seed. However, based on reputation JJ will definitely be the 3-seed. Means very little as they still have to play all the other teams. Englot should grab the #2 seed - as she's easily the only current Canadian skip who can stand up to Rachel w/ no panic (JJ & Lawes tend to panic vs. Homan)
Sweeting and McCarville (if Krista has sufficient pts to qualify) should round out the Top 5.

Only thing I know is that Jones still has some deviousness left in her game, her team is tried and tested - and she'd love to cap her career by winning another Olympic gold (which would surely make up for her less than stellar play at world championships)

Why do you think reputation or anything other than the fact below will determine seeding in Ottawa ?

From Curling Canada's website:

Once the seven teams have been identified, they will be seeded 1-7 for the Trials based on their CTRS results for the 2016-17. The teams from the Pre-Trials will be seeded #8 and #9.

Current CTRS points are:
1 Rachel Homan (Ontario) 402.019
2 Jennifer Jones (Manitoba) 354.482
3 Allison Flaxey (Ontario) 308.877
4 Val Sweeting (Alberta) 278.879
5 Casey Scheidegger (Alberta) 271.591
6 Michelle Englot (Manitoba) 264.412
7 Tracy Fleury (Northern Ontario) 201.515
8 Chelsea Carey (Alberta) 189.416

Really belongs in the ROTR Women's thread, as this has little to do with the 2017 World's.
